The moonshine is cool but it seems a lot of people think the tubescreamers mid hump and bass cut is accidental. It's not. In your bedroom it might sound odd but that frequency response is exactly what's going to put you in front of a band.

Wow that moonshine sounds like a pissed off tube screamer.I like the rage in that moonshine.
@KentToneworks11 жыл бұрын
The Moonshine can get some TS type tones, but there is a lot more in there. It can be thicker (but doesn't get muddy), can get fatter and it has more volume and when you crank the gain its still a defined clipping, does not get harsh or brittle.

You know, for a bit I thought the Moonshine was just a TS9 with a higher gain switch. This, to my delight, proved me wrong.

I now play a moonshine through my vox in the up position mostly and love it! Tried using it with a cranked 5150 to achieve the typical tightening up of a high gain amp but it doesn't work nearly as well as the full drive 2 (ts9 style pedal) i was previously using in that scenario as it seems the moonshine preserves the low end in a way most ts9 style pedals don't. Thus, i still want a ts9 again. Both great. The Moonshine for sure more versatile. But through a high gain amp, ts9 still can't be beaten.

Thanks for the comparison. So now that you have played the Moonshine, done a side by side, what is your over all opinion on the Moonshine? It does sound(to my ears thru youtube)very similar to a tube screamer but it sounds like it may be a little more thick & fatter with more gain on tap. Does that sound like a fair assessment? Thanks for the demo's, I have watched your other demo with just the Moonshine several times so it was great to hear a side by side.I am still trying to decide. Peace.

They are different, i have Ibanez TS-9 and also the iBANEZ Super Tube (Great Pedal) however I think the Moonshine sounds more organic than TS9 - I also use the JHS Morning Glory and its great.

I just got a moonshine , and noticed mine is a good bit brighter sounding in the top end than a normal or keeley ts. Anyone else notice this ? Like mine sounds more hard and jangly not thick a smooth like the tubescreamers I have owned

A bit unfair, the level on the TS was never as loud as the MS or at least that's what the microphone picked up

Cool comparison, Curtis. Could you show it alongside the Morning Glory too please?
@freakcomposer6 жыл бұрын
You can’t compare two pedals if you don’t know how to match the volume! The louder one will mislead you, it will sound more gainy and articulate. This is a misleading video my friends

Tube screamer was a miracle pedal when it was introduced. Blew my mind. I wouldn’t use a pedal at all until the TS entered the field. Never disrespect the green. Sure there are some new boxes that focus your tone a little tighter is different areas. This is not better. Only different. Forty years later we have some great alternatives.

The articulation is one of the things you're paying for, - simple as that. If you're the one saying that Stevie Ray ( or whoever) didn't need boutiques, well, - you should stick to the TS.Because you don't listen with your ears, anyway.
@saculsheet6 ай бұрын
The TS sounds awesome compared to the other pedal that sounds shrill to me, Josh Scott says there's is Not difference between chips but the New Production JRC4558D is the difference, I bet that TS has that chip, so sweet. JHS Is Not handmade pedals. Scott is a bussinessman, he sends his circuits to be done by robots.
@jonathanbrazee38468 жыл бұрын
Who ever thought a tube screamer was over rated? You guys act like the tube screamer is some high end bit of snobbery. last I checked, the JHS is what the hipster "boooteek" snobs play. The ibanez has been around forever for a reason. it will still be around long after the moonshine is all but a distant memory.
@rt-uh6mt8 жыл бұрын
Ain't that the truth. The TS9 is classic. I do however like that in the past decade or two so many people have started building their own home-brewed pedals. It's unfortunate they're incredibly expensive. It's just a fuzz pedal dammit.
@peppe4067 жыл бұрын
JHS are straight up cloners. And they ain’t no kind of “hipster” brand. Hipsters don’t jock Christian Evangelical companies.

JHS is more powerful, and what's that? AN LED!?! Wow that's helpful.. the TS9 doesn't have an LED And the moonshine gets WAY more feedback, and that's because it doesn't compress the sound like the TS9, All settings at top for both, the TS gets quieter, the moonshine oh baby.. it roars, it opens up the sound more, Even if you set the level higher on the TS it's still a compressed sound, when on stage, the moonshine seems like It'll play out more helpful then the TS, the TS seems old and not as good compared, sunlight shows no LED, not as much drive And just a more compressed sound, and the moonshine gives MORE sounds, especially with that switch
