Small Definition of These Blights 👇
Becterial Blight :- Bacterial blight is a plant disease caused by various species of bacteria that infect the leaves, stems, and sometimes even the flowers or fruit of plants. The disease is characterized by the appearance of water-soaked lesions on the plant tissue, which may eventually turn brown or black as the tissue dies. The affected leaves may also curl or wilt.
Bacterial blight can affect a wide variety of plants, including crops such as tomatoes, peppers, and soybeans, as well as ornamental plants like roses and lilacs. The disease is spread through contaminated seed, infected plant debris, or by wind and rain.
Early Blight :- Early blight is a fungal disease that affects a wide range of plants, including tomatoes, potatoes, and eggplants. It is caused by the fungus Alternaria solani and is characterized by the appearance of small, circular lesions on the plant's lower leaves. These lesions may have a target-like appearance, with concentric rings of dark and light colors.
As the disease progresses, the lesions may expand and coalesce, causing the affected leaves to turn yellow and die. In severe cases, the disease can also affect the stems and fruits of the plant.
Late Blight :- Late blight is a fungal disease that affects plants in the Solanaceae family, including tomatoes and potatoes. It is caused by the pathogen Phytophthora infestans and can spread rapidly in cool and moist conditions. Late blight was responsible for the historic Irish potato famine in the mid-19th century.
Late blight is characterized by the appearance of large, irregularly shaped lesions on the leaves, stems, and fruits of affected plants. These lesions may have a water-soaked appearance and a grayish-white mold growth may be visible on the underside of the leaf. Infected fruit may also have dark, sunken areas.
