Jhum cultivation practice at hillside of Chandel, Manipur

Jhum cultivation is an old traditional way of rice cultivation practice in the North East of India by the tribes living in the hills. It has a minimal impact on the climate which had been practiced since time immemorial. There are only few who still practice this cultivation as it's their main source of income. Nevertheless, this practice has gone down drastically with the advancement and modernisation of people.

Jhum cultivation in our naga area of chandel mainly if we cultivate this year in one hill than we use to cultivate in the same place after 18or 20 year so it doesn't effect any tress the trees grow more then before so pls don't blame someone if you don't know anything about them!

That's scary if you cultivate in same place after 18 years you keep burning hills & destroy every year can't imagine how much forest you have burn in the due process. Why can u cultivate in the same area for atleast 15-20 years. When your talk about deforestation it's not only tree you're destroying... lot's of medicinal plants, animals habitat were lost too you can't recover everything in 18 years and you keep doing deforestation and shifting new place for that 18 years... please let's find alternative for this. Jhum cultivation should be replaced...we need to give awareness to the tribals

Dear enlightened sir, we don't have fertile plains like you for our cultivation. So please excuse us when we use what we have, our hills, to grow our food. It is a hard job, we cannot employ machinery. It all has to be done manually. So excuse us and gtfo

If we cultivate in this hill we come back after 18or20 years to the same place there is no effect to the trees it grows double we have a large land forests in chandel naga place so don't blame someone if you have no idea !
