0:28 although he has gotten the point, i still find it hilarious how he fell its like a cartoon. and it was also a beautiful strike.

@@drandrewtan sadly he got arrested some years ago, then retired as a cop and as a professional kendoka. I think he's teaching kendo rn. Too bad, he was imo TBE as far as jodan no kamae practitioners.

yes it was a gyaku do (or reverse do since the hit was on the left side of the opponents do). Normally you would hit do on the opponents right side, but a gyaku do can be a valid hit but very difficult to hit. Most jodan players will attempt the gyaku do since the shinai is held high 45 degrees towards the opponents left do.

It's about 1 year i am studyng migi-jodan. I have no power on my left hand due to a phisical problem, so i use the right one to throw. In this way i maintain the same work-foot of classic chudan no kamae, so this help me in fumikomi. The path it's not easy... but so fascinating and i also found a, imho, very good guide to follow. So i am buildinig it day by day. It's funny to see the expression of kendoka that doesnt' know me... either some judge in the shiai are surprised! :)
4:30 Does that kendoka only have one arm? Impressive! Can he still hit men or kote like that? I feel like it would be impossible to get tenouchi with your hand that high up on the tsuka.
@Corey916665 жыл бұрын
oh yes he does... kote is his speciality... there is a documentation about him here on youtube.
I´m a jodanuser myself and videos like this can really help you improve when no ones else knows how to teach you jodan (I have yet to find someone who can teach me prober Jodan, so far I´ve learned it by myself.) Anyone knows where I can find more tipps about jodan?

Arisu, i have never heard such crap... In kendo, you use the left hand all the time, all the power and motion is coming from the left hand... Sure, kote hit is (in most positions) only valid on the right kote (which strengthens your point - but only seemingly!) but fighting with 2 and with 1 hand is a difference! With two hands the power comes from your left hand; with 1 hand you would rather use "your" hand for obvious reasons (just try it, it's a huge difference 1 or 2-handed combat!) so if the Strike would cut off an enemy's hand; you surely would choose "his" hand, for he only has one after the strike! ^^ Actually, left handed have a huge advantage in kendo (when they use the regular stance and grab) as i have noticed! And the bias, you say a lot of Japanese have are actually more your bias, obviously...

Use it when you have nothing to lose. I believe it is the most powerful Kamae in kendou.
Kendo have one way.. Kenjutsu ( Kenjitsu ) have other... i'm Kendo student, but i practice Kenjutsu too... Naginata and Kyudo ^^~

Kendo is Kendo. Kenjitsu is Kenjitsu. you can google the development of kendo in history.
@nik0212986 жыл бұрын
But doesn't kendo uses kenjutsu techniques as it is a simplified or "pacified" version of it? Therefore you could still practice both could you?
Why is this not like ken jitsu ? Sword is sword bamboo or not you wouldn't do half this with the katana please explain. I do not under stand kendo. And migi jodan jr just jodan is very powerful and is my favorite position you can confuse your oponet becouse it can strike high or low

migi jodan is for lef handed,. the essential is the same as hidari jodan,. if righthanded use migi jodan it will look stupid and amateur.. less power , speed , and timing. it will easy to defeat, dont you try to be cool using migi jodan, unless you are left handed,. but you know there is samurai said that there is no left handed swordsman,.

yeah.. but not in japan.. but thats okay,, you need a very good reason to use migi jodan, and you have it,. you know why the judge suprised? in japan left handed is taboo,. the judge maybe think you are left handed,. left handed is disadvantage for kendo,. and if you asked all sensei in japan they will say that left handed is suicide, that is why left handed is forbid in kendo. you will know the disadvantage of using left handed technique among the right handed soon..
