Jacky, dyslexia is a very complicated issue. I did have a student who did worse in Chinese than English and she was diagnosed with dyslexia in Chinese by educational psychiatrist. Here in the UK, some dyslexic students are given a piece of coloured plastic to read. Some read better with a yellow one but some a green, and some a pink. The white background is a hindrance for them. Some students are given a reading pen in exams. They scan the questions with the pen and listen. Ironically, those pens are manufactured in PRC, but I don’t think China and HK have gone that far. Some dyslexics struggle with maths, which I have little knowledge about it.
People say that adding some brain science into your speech can make it sound more convincing. That's sadly true. The speaker may have good intention, but he is spreading pseudoscience that may cloud people's understanding of dyslexia. What a shame.
