I didn't watched it to the end cos I dislike the ending. Dal Mi should be with her first love cos of the history they have together. I think not all the letters were fake..some of them did revealed Ji Pyeon's true colours.

I still don't get it why they didn't end up together. But I guess this drama is trying to show Do San and Dal mi relationship looks like an opportunism. If Ur slow, u'll strike out. So in this case Ji pyeong realise too late and lost her. He gave a new guy a shot and he took it .. ughh. the ending is still bitter for me but what to do.

I think his hesitancy is definitely a factor as to why Jipyeong 'loses', but I don't think it's the full intention of the writer. I think the overarching reason is same as the central theme of the story: moving beyond the past to build the future. Start-Up is about building from nothing, or at least the ashes of something that once was, and that's the path Dosan takes to become the person he once pretended to be; and that's why Dosan is the writer's choice for Dalmi. Unfortunately, it's definitely arguable that the writer didn't properly execute Dosan's character to travel that arc while also providing substantial reasoning for him winning over Jipyeong.
