Looking at all the languages in the commentary... I find it remarkable how one man can touch so many people without uttering a single word. This is how you win at life.

why do people only pay attention to one summer's day? Departure has more depth in my opinion. 2:24 is absolutely beautiful.
@FirePhoenix21XT7 жыл бұрын
jeffreyFUU That's because One Summer's Day played a big part in the film Spirited Away. The song would play during many emotional scenes which is one big reason it is loved by many fans of the film. This song also gives some people a sense of nostalgia.

Your opinion does not matter...both are good masterpiece... U are just a toxic listener
@ForMelToHyde4 жыл бұрын
@@GyozaMunchkin Lol okay Zoomer He/She was just stating their opinion. Your opinion is that they can't appreciate music, when all he is saying is that Departure has more depth. You're just toxic for shutting down people's opinions. MY opinion is yes. Departures is more beautiful to me. I found this video to listen to One Summer's Day. I never even listened to Departures or remember hearing it in the movie. After watching this countless amount of times, I can feel the emotions of the cello player. She is so into playing her part. As a musician, I appreciate that so much. It made me love Departures more than One Summer's Day. Both are amazing. Joe Hisaishi is an AMAZING composer.
@anyo_mations3 жыл бұрын
It's because one summer's day is so much more memorable, since its so much more pure, focused and simplistic, whereas departure's emotional range is all over the place
@captainteeko45793 жыл бұрын
@@anyo_mations I’m pretty sure it’s bc most western audiences don’t even know what departures is. I HAD to watch it for a Japanese film class and before then I had no idea it existed and when I found it I feel in love with the music bc of joe hisaishi of course. THAT being said it was miyazaki films that introduced me to him so that’s probs why many ppl know spirited away’s OST more than departures

i love both of the songs. I have a deep respect for Joe Hisaisi and his work of art. I have NEVER felt so many emotions while listening a piece of music. All of the little elements of his songs takes me trough so many different worlds. So many beautiful, sad, desperate, bittersweet, melancholy, hopeful and joyful moments. Everything stops when i hear this beautiful music. My world stops but at the same time my whole world begins because i can feel. I can feel so many different emotions that i have lost. Deep deep emotions that makes me feel that the world is so beautiful it almost hurts. This is pure art. Thank you Mr. Hisaishi. Your music has affected my life in so many ways and it will always have a special place in my heart.

I cried listening to One Summer's Day. 9:47 - 10:08 always get to me. I hear that and I think of Chihiro sitting in the train with No Face on the way to the witch's twin sister, listening to the piano playing in the background as I myself am 7 years old watching. I don't cry often but this one gets me.

My favorite quote from Departures, "One grown cold restored to beauty for all eternity. This was done with a calmness, a precision, and above all a gentle affection. At the final parting, sending the dead on their way, everything done peacefully and beautifully."

+aziangrl95 it seems to me thst the orchestra plays much more powerfully than other Japanese orchestra's he's conducted with, which gives the music a completey different feel. Just my opinion :)
@yeheonhong74368 жыл бұрын
+TheEnigmaticHermit Good point! I think many people feel a significant difference between Western and Eastern orchestras, especially in terms of color, tone, manner of playing, and general interpretations of pieces as well. Personally, I think Western orchestras are a bit more superb when it comes to technique, fullness of sound, and coherence. (Just personal opinions here! hehe)
