There is something about the juxtaposition of melody so upbeat, like delight in love or infatuation, feeling it will last forever, with the sadness and loneliness of the lyrics... and then, those notes at the end... This is one of those songs that (at least to me) is deeper than it would seem on the surface, which makes it intriguing and memorable.
