Because even though we speak Tamil ( south indian language) which was spoken during kings times...we can't understand the old dialect easily... 是的，現代人還是能懂古代文字，尤其是台灣人。 稱謂上是有一些不同， 文字上也有一些改變，是化繁為簡了一部分。 台灣現在使用的文字就是周代以來（更正確地說應該是秦朝以後）使用的。他們受的教育能看懂古代留下來的文字，但要百分百懂得其中所代表的含義（尤其是文言文），還是要再受更高階的訓練。 現代的中國大陸在這點上就沒優勢，因為他們用的是“簡體字”。一個字可能代表了好多古文字（我們稱其為“繁體字”---現在台灣使用的官方文字），隨便拿出一本古書，可能一半以上的字讀不出來。若把簡體字轉換為繁體字，常常被代錯了字，這對懂繁體字的人來說，轉換後的詞意義就不同了（變成另一種意思）。但我們懂，只要是20世紀7、80年代以前出生並在台灣受教育的人都有這能力。 簡單提幾個犯錯的字，像“骯髒”的髒字被寫成臟（-->骯臓x)；“心臟”的臟字被寫成髒(-->心髒x---除非在駡人的心是髒的才是這樣用)。前者是骨字偏旁，後者是月（肉）為偏旁，因為心臟是一種肉，不是骨頭。“了解”寫成“瞭解”，可以，但有些出現在句中的“了”硬被轉換成“瞭”那就不倫不類了。還有“面”這個字，有時出現在句子裡就硬被轉換成“麵”字，“云”被換成“雲”，或“芸”換成“藝”就更不知所云（也不要把這裡的“云”字換成“雲”）了。其他的錯還有很多（我們說拈花惹草，不說沾花惹草。花可是用手摘的，可不是用沾的就可採下）。中國文字的形成，有象形、指事、會意、形聲、轉注、假借等所謂的六書形式，顯見很多在簡體字薰陶下的大陸人對中國文字不瞭解。所以只要看到犯了某些錯誤，我就明白這篇文章是出自何處了。 我是台灣出生長大的，我只受一般普通的中文教學，但我看得懂95%以上中國古籍上的文字。
