I do not reccomend this type of jib crane design if walls aren't made entirely from thick enough reinforced concrete.

What stops your wall from collapsing? Is the home concrete or stucco? That is leverage houses are not built for.
@makeityourself5016
@makeityourself5016 3 жыл бұрын
Good observation mate. Walls are actually made from clay blocks. So, those aren't enought to hold 1 ton on the end of 3 meter long beam. Not even close. But there is a vertical concrete pillar behind one part of the mount and one horizontal on top. So, it should hold :D Thanks for watching mate. ;)

Great welds - super project - question on your weld technique - almost looks like you are using a type of "whip" nozzle movement, when most mig guys use more of a circular nozzle movement. Is that correct? Whatever you are doing, produced a very even seam. Nice job.
@makeityourself5016
@makeityourself5016 11 ай бұрын
Hello. Yes, that's one of the techinques. I believe its not recomended for begginers because you can end up with lack of fusion. But if you know how to stay on the leading edge of the puddle it's just perfect. I like that technique the most. I had my welds tested and i did penetration test and they were all good. That circular motion is used with lower currents. Its not used in spray transfer, just in short circuit mig or globular. .

@@jro1560 jep, you are right. Welding causes very high local temperatures. And when getting hot, metal expands and when cooling down, it shrinks. If I wouldn't be checking with an axle, it might had happen that an axle wouldn't even fit through. And if I saw that axle leans to one way, i had to weld opposite side. Like mentioned. It's called weld sequence.

@apacheone3643
@apacheone3643 2 жыл бұрын
You should allow time for the metal to cool between welds to minimize twist. Also the strength of your wall and those lags are your weak point especially if that concrete is of a low rating and not wire reinforce. When a Foundation is laid for a building the concrete is collected at the beginning and end of the pour , it is allow to cure 30 days and then will have a compression test done on it . Cemete walls are not required in all places to have the same test done . I would check with your building codes to see if there is a code for your walls . If you live in a Hurricane Zone and the building is new you may have a hurricane rated 🧱.

This design is very dangerous if the wall where the arm is anchored is not reinforced. I could end up tearing off the anchor point And it can cause serious accidents or the death of anyone nearby when the crane is operating.

It sure is. Lifting capacity is very well dependent on structural integrity of the wall. In my case, there is a concrete beam behind, so there is nothing to worry about 😀 Thanks for watching 😀

Total weight of the crane cca 190 kg. And lifting capacity of 1000 kg at the end of the 3 meter long beam. 😀

No wall in any building is designed to withstand such locally transmitted load. The fact that you can do something, doesn’t mean you should do it!! And the walls came tumbling down…………………… Stavros

Haha it could be done. But turning is smooth, without any effort even if having a load
