I would have been more upset if Dean had thrown away Castiel's coat. Dean never saw Castiel's body.. Especially in the spn universe where death is never the end, and even more so with no 'proof' of a body, Dean couldn't be 100% sure Cas was really dead. Not to mention how Cas has been rebuild by God quite a few times before, even from being disintegrated by Lucifer. And this is Dean we're talking about, who denied Sammy was dead for days in season 2 despite having his stabbed corpse in front of him and sold his soul just to get him back! Dean didn't know for sure he would never see Cas again, so it makes sense he would keep the trench coat and keep it in good condition as it meant a lot to him. It was probably moved to the stolen car by Dean because he refused to give up that Cas wouldn't return, and Dean wanted to give the coat back as a bridge between all the shit that happened between them. Dean is a sensitive character although he doesn't talk about it much. I ship Destiel, but even if you don't you can still see how much Dean cares for Cas like a brother. The return of Cas' coat made for a touching scene and a symbol of Castiel's character really returning to the show. I don't get the hate people have for it.

Roxana Mariana I agree. I mean J2 and Misha reserve the right to change scenes. Why could they not change certain points. If I have to redo the scene I would put the trenchcoat in a plastic or paper wrapper to show that it had be dry-cleaned and left as is. Remember, the coat was floating by the side of the lake. Calling the scene ridiculous is very disrespectful, especially considering that the only active female on the creative team wrote that episode. I think she gave up her place as showrunner because of the lack of confidence Jensen showed in her. I remember when he had a press conference before the premiere of season six, he said he wasn't completely happy about the story arc. He never treated Eric like that. And Jeremy isn't being treated like that either. Not cool Jensen. And to mock the scene at the convention. Also not cool.

Canonically speaking, I think Dean actually *would* fold the coat up and keep it because it's all he has left to remind him of Cas, his good angel friend. The fact that it's in a stolen car is odd, that's all. And I'm sure it was a super uncomfortable *conversation* for Misha to say it was uncomfortable. He ships destiel, and if even he said it was weird, the dialog must've been pretty weird.

I hear you Jensen, I too want my Destiel not to be a cliché or too obvious. The simple fact that Dean kept it is important. The trench symbolizes Cas no matter how he would have handed it back to Cas, we would all have got the message behind it. I mean you don't even have to ship them to see it. Whether you see two friends, two lovers, two men who share a more profound bound... Dean kept it because Cas meant something to him and handing it back to Cas, meant that Dean never forgot and always hoped that one more time his friend had survived. I think they love each other but also I think love is something else in Supernatural. It is not necessarily the "love" we label in our society. Cause we tend to label everything. I think in Supernatural you can not label that kind of love or the love the brohters share... Even though my fantasies often involve Cas and Dean making out xD What can I say? Don't need it to be canon to like it. It's like having Faith.

***** 1.The fact that you should feel it necessary to justify yourself as being open to gay relationships or marriage, bothers me a little. You are totally entitled to not see or want Destiel. The reason you find it annoying is because you don't see it. We don't "feed it" as you say. We see it, we believe it, we like it, we want it. We express this openly and we have a right to do so. As a fellow Destiel believer, I would say never say never xD As a fellow SPN fan, as long as the show avoids queerbaiting and keeps true to its chore, the question of whether Destiel will happen or not is not what I'll give the most importance to. SPN has always been way more than that and I will only be annoyed with those who will say that Destiel is the only thing that matters or simply who will solely judge the story based on their shipping desires. To be honest, if it happens I will be highly septikal and on my guards, because this ship is beautiful it deserves the best. So i guess my point is: Don't be annoyed with passionate people. All of them aren't disrespectful or mean. But they have passion and they need to express it (inside the safety net of respect and tolerance.)

***** I know what you mean and mostly you are right. Internet is a scary place. Everybody has an opinion no matter how much or how little they know about what they are talking about. Everybody is vocal even when most of the time they should shut up. I wasn't referring solely to the internet when I said "net". I know lots of fans with whom I interact in the real world out there all the time. Its palpable how more vocal we can get when physically face to face and talking about what we love. I don't know what you ship or if you ship at all, I don't know how you engage in fandom life or what other shows/books/movies/games/comics you are into. Nonetheless the internet is the best place ever to engage and love and have a passion about something and share it with people. But it's a matter of finding the right platform. KZbin is probably the worst ever. Because as you clearly said before, all the comments attack you. All of it is hard to ignore. KZbin is too much of a big mess. Find a place where people understand each others passion even if they don't share the same. Tumblr is great for that. All that beautiful mess of fans and you see lots of things you don't necessarily agree with or know about but the person who shared it is much more like you than you could think. Basically what we love is different but we are the same. And it's refreshing. There're always those to be disrepectful but it's life. Idiots everywhere. Make FB groups, go on Livejournal etc... or ignore what you read that doesn't please you. If you know what you love, don't let jerks who mostly speak for nothing change your mind or don't listen to the ones that force you to see something you don't. And Dean being straight... mmmmmmmh.... He is. But let's just say I believe he is not just straight. But that's another discussion. If you want to talk about it, let's find a way to do so. If not I won't force you to see something that you don't. It's all a matter of interpretation and the writers know how to play with it.

It being dry cleaned made sense to me. It had been covered in goop and murky water, and Dean is a germaphobe. I'm gonna go on a limb and guess that Sam washed and properly folded the trenchcoat since it's more in character with Sam's habits to keep things clean and tidy than Dean, Dean just kept it in memory of Cas. Also, more importantly, Sam is the one who was reaching out to Cas before he died since he still believed him to be one of them, whereas Dean had completely given up on Cas. Even after he came back, Dean was super mad at Cas saying things like, "nobody cares that you're broken Cas, clean up your mess", while Sam clearly really cared about and was troubled over Cas being broken as he promised to fix him no matter what it takes. So I think Sam had much more of an intent to clean and keep the trenchcoat for Cas as he was way more forgiving of him, Dean just didn't throw it out. BTW, it's clear Jensen believed way more in the brotherly relationship between Dean and Cas as it was originally intended and Misha didn't have any problem with it becoming a one-sided romantic one by the end. Turned out to be a serious lapse of judgement on Misha's part, glad Jensen stuck to his guns about Dean not returning Cas's feelings as he clearly only saw him as a brother, till the very end.

Well some people when they lose someone they care about and love, they take really good care of momentos that belonged to that person that they lost. It's also a part of the grieving and mourning process. Thats probably why Dean had it folded up, neat, and ready for incase Cas returned! I actually think it was pretty realistic for him to do that. xP As funny as Jensen made it sound its kinda sad that he didnt see that even tho he portays dean. Also Dean drove around with Bobby's flask so it doesnt surprise me that he drove around with Cas' s trench coat. xP

Does jensen not know his character at all? It baffles me sometimes, Dean keeps his cassette tape collection in order and labeled and we saw that in the pilot of season 1, Dean also wears his father's jacket until it was stolen from set after season five, Dean drives his dad's car, wears his brother's amulet, kept Bobby's flask after he died, has pictures of his mum in his wallet, so yeah Dean is a very sentimental guy, and he keeps things to remind him of the people he loves, and he likes order and kind of a neat freak, even his room in the bunker is very neat and full of sentimental objects and pictures of his mom. And he gets mad when Sam miss up the kitchen after he cleans it, in 5x03 "free to be you and me" we see Dean washing his own jacket from the blood in the sink right before cas showed up behind him, so yeah Dean cleans, big deal, Dean was literally the woman of the house with John and Sam, he had to cook for Sam, do the dishes, clean their clothes and fold it, who else do you think did that?, keep things neat and clean, I mean did he not see the trunk of the impala how the weapons are very organised and in a specific order, Dean is very sentimental and nurturing coz he had to be that for Sam and he's the heart of this show and that's why we love him, off course he would keep his best friend's (the only friend he ever had at that point) trench coat, to remind him of him, and coz they didn't have a home at that point, everything they own is in the impala, so when they switch cars, they move everything in the impala to the new car, specially since Dean didn't know if he would see the impala again at that point (coz the leviathans were tracking the impala so he couldn't use it he had to give her up) , so that new stolen car was supposed to be with them for a while or at least until they beat the leviathans , the fact that the coat was clean and folded, he could've just sent it to dry clean, like he does with their FBI suits that are always clean and folded, it's not like him to keep a dirty wet trench coat to stink in the trunk of the impala, it's really not that big of a deal, I sometimes think that jensen is so stuck on a one dimensional idea of Dean in his head, that he doesn't see all the layers of the character, and he blames the "girly" writing as he calls it, but she just understands the character and the plot more tbh. He is just making a big deal out of nothing here.

I find the trenchcoat's fate kind of sad though. While their bond (be it friendship or romantic, up to your interpretation) is strong enough that Dean believes Castiel will be back one way or another, enough that he even carries that trenchcoat in the boot of whichever car he happened to be driving in, for Cass to just toss the coat at the laundromat...understandable he didn't have enough money to wash it but still...why not just take it with him. It's like the coat had no sentimental value to him at all even though it meant loads to Dean.
