Catching bass with jigs is really easy! You can do it, and we're going to help! A few jigs, a few trailers, and you're ready to adapt to anything Fall bass fishing brings your way. Pay close attention to how we adapt the jigs to changing conditions and you'll be ready to start catching fish on your next trip.
When it comes to jigs, Fall is all about finesse. Lighter hooks and lighter line are the keys to getting consistent bites. Matt prefers football jigs this time of year and focuses on a few basic colors and sizes. Its important to adapt with changing conditions but Matt finds its easier (and cheaper) to change trailers and trailer colors rather than carrying dozens of jigs styles and colors.
Below is a breakdown of his simplified jig fishing method. There are a total of 4 jigs and 6 trailer styles. If you listen closely and analyze your fishery you should only need 2-3 jigs and 3-4 trailers to adapt to anything your fishery can throw at you this Fall. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Damnit man, you're a scientist when it comes to fish. I love it. Because of you guys, I've managed to catch more fish, stay sober longer, and find peace on the water. Even if I don't catch anything that day, I come back and learn why after watching your channel. Thank you for everything you all do. It's life changing man! God bless!

I'm 53 years old and have started fishing again after an almost 25 year hiatus (kids & career). There are so many new lures that didn't exist in the late 80s and early 90s it can be overwhelming. I grew up watching Bill Dance Outdoors and Hank Parker and learned quite a bit from them but nowhere nearly as much as your videos teach me. You've taken away some of the confusion. I watch a video and then commit to using that technique for a few weeks to learn something new. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and teaching some of us older dogs new tricks. Bug

I’ve used Dirty jigs now for a full season, I purchased several swim jigs, several finesse football jigs off of your suggestions and yes, even some in your aforementioned colors, I have enjoyed success throughout this season as a co-angler using them, I wish to pass along a heartfelt thank you for all you guys do for us, I will be ordering more with certainty and with confidence !!

You'll get the hang of the "mosquito swat shuffle" which people usually mistake for a nervous tick. Those ankle biters are THICK. Watching you advocate for downsizing and slowing down is so useful for us and the type of fishing we do. So glad you guys came south and east. Now, instead of watching your videos and adapting your techniques to our environment, we get to watch you do it and it is validation that even a couple of amateurs such as ourselves can use your approach and adapt it to the water bodies we frequent.

Thats one thing that alot of people miss a ton of fish because of how light they take the bait. I know for me up in PA once the water temp gets to like 60 or below they rarely ever hammer it. Most of the time it just feels like you hit a rock or something when its actually a fish!

Another option for that keitech jig trailer is strike king makes a baby or ned size of the rage bug that pairs up perfectly with that jig and gives it some more action than the z man craws

Tried all summer to get bit on a jig. I bank fish smallmouth. Was able to get bit on a bare swinghead football jig with a strike king rage bug, but tried a couple of different trailers on a skirted jig. Strike king rage bug, berkley pitboss, jackyal chunk craw, no luck at all. I gave up and just stuck with neko rigged yum dingers. I'll try again next year.

Hey Matt, love the videos! Cant get enough of them. On the fall swimbait video, you recommended 2/0 ST-56 for the Explorer glide but I cant find where to buy these hooks, if those aren't available in that size, what other hook would you recommend? I am already using the Gami 4x for my Hudd stingers. Thank you for any help, tight lines!

Great video Matt. Much appreciated. Still learning my pond up in Massachusetts but there are hundreds of stumps and lots of milfoil to punch through. Besides trial and error, where is the best place to pitch to? Thanks.
