Is this a free training course lol ! As always thank you for all the pointers! I always had a problem when the wind is blowing side ways 🥹🥹🥹 I gotta apply these techniques to see if I can manage to maintain the jig action

So much great info in this video, Roger, and timely as the start of our season approaches. I’m curious about how both you and Marc pick up those fluke by compressing the aft ends of their gill plates, and it seems to usually subdue head shaking?
@CookingandFishing
@CookingandFishing Жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike!!! The problem with fluke is they don't come with convenient handles like bass lol...what I've always done is go behind the head and squeeze above the pectoral fins, just hard enough to immobilize them.

Great content and channel!! Wondering how this techniq works with moderate surf out front? Your vids ive seen look as if its bay or west wind, lake like conditions

How about a video on fishing different tides? Many people get into the habit of fishing just the high tide and not the low.
@CookingandFishing
@CookingandFishing Жыл бұрын
If that's true people are missing out lol...in terms of fishing tide just dictates current direction in most places - if you can cast up current that's always the most natural presentation.

Roger the wild card is a Crankin S wind on the beach front proper.....Issue is now the south wind is impossible to cast into and the wind aligns with the Long Shore Current (North of Holgate) making it impossible to work the jig without Upsizing the Jig head. I often move to a grub as it can be worked with sweeps close to the water instead of Pops.

Noticed it appeared you removed your hook keeper, was it interfering with the cast. I enjoy your videos very much, thank you.

How long of a leader do you use to the braid? Thanks for the great videos. Having fished traditional high/low bucktails and gulp rigs, it's nice to alter my approach.

Thanks!! Either 9-10ft with the connection knot between my reel and stripper guide, or 3-5 ft with the knot outside the rod when casting.

Please show us how to use the Un-hookum.....You make it look so damn easy. I have bent the thing and still cant get the jig out. Doesnt seem to work like its does in Styrofoam.
@CookingandFishing
@CookingandFishing Жыл бұрын
Once you clip the Y into the bend of the hook, twist it to one side or another - you need to direct the force parallel to the hook shank when you push downwards. I wish someone would make a slightly heavier duty version.

Can you use this same method jig setup for fishing of a pier?
@CookingandFishing
@CookingandFishing Жыл бұрын
Ofc - just know that your line angle is different so your timing and line management on the drop has to compensate accordingly
