Thanks for the video and fish update! Inland lakes here in SWMI are almost 50, so I'll get in some crappie fishing before the coho start!

Nice catch, I noticed you guys released everything is lake trout not in season yet? Thanks, Tim
@BigLakeLittleBoat11 ай бұрын
You can keep lake trout all year long. We enjoy catch and release when we are near shore jigging. Plus, these fish were a bit on the large size for us to enjoy eating.

Love those multi-species days! I also love that you got this out a day after recording. I wanted to get the yak out Saturday but life had other plans so I'm fishing through you vicariously. Regarding the carp, catch one on a fly rod and you'll become obsessed :)

Well, we appreciate your support. Thank you and hope you can get out soon. We love the multi species as well. So many things to go for on our Great Lake.

What an awesome day on the lake! A light south wind are magical words for me. Those were absolute tankers! I can't imagine jigging up a 21 lb fish. Do you use the same rod/reel combo as for coho? Awesome job, Brian and crew!
@BigLakeLittleBoat10 ай бұрын
Thanks, Bob. We use 6.6 medium action rods with bait casters and 10 pound test. Just normal bass stuff, really. We loosen the drags a bit too, so they don’t break off

@@BigLakeLittleBoat Sorry I was a little tardy watching your video....not sure how that happened. lol I have a trip planned to go jigging in the western basin of Lake Erie next month. 3 days....can't wait! Heck, even a tanker walleye won't compare to those lakers you caught!

Question- Do you ever keep your lake trout. How do they taste. Do you have any recipes for trout. I feel the ones 12 lbs or less should be good eaters.
@BigLakeLittleBoat11 ай бұрын
We rarely keep any lake trout while jigging, because we want to kind of keep the same fish coming back, but we do keep under 5 to 6 pound lake trout when we are out offshore, and will eat those. We cook the smaller Lake trout just as we would early season coho. My wife made a good recipe the other day that involved a special sauce and dried tomatoes and stuff and it was fantastic.
@BigLakeLittleBoat11 ай бұрын
The only time that we would keep a trout, while Lake trout jigging is if they lost a lot of blood, and they were going to die
@johnlarocco266111 ай бұрын
Maybe its time to get the wife to start a thing on recipes. Where she can give hers and receive recipes from others. I would but I don't have good computer skills. When you tell stories you get my mouth watering to try new recipes. Even though I love the one I have gotten over the years. @@BigLakeLittleBoat
