Wauw, u can be really proud of urselve, catching a giant tuna like that, and let it swim after youve catched it! Beacuse of the japanese there are hardly any tunas left, so as a sportsfisherman this deserves tons of respect! You won't have a picture with a record tuna, but still youve got the experience of a lifetime, ass well as respect from all over the world, this one comes from Holland! Good job!

What kind of reel is that? Awesome video.
@jansarestupidfucks12 жыл бұрын
The drag on a reel lets out line according to the amount of weight it is set to. This guy only had like 55 lbs of drag set on his reel so it would slip when 55 lbs of force is pulled on it. The fish will eventually get tired and will be easy enough to reel in. Hope that helps.

Just curious. I see that you've got the rod/reel tied to you via that belt rig. Is there some sort of quick disconnect on it? I mean the thought of a thousand pound fish pulling me overboard and making a run for the bottom with me attached to the reel is a bit scary. I understand you could just open the spool or whatever the term is but in that split second I wouldn't want to be fumbling around trying to do that. thanks

@Fireworxs201212 жыл бұрын
My back hurts just watching this.... Awesome cath & release... But I gotta ask....Whats the point/benefit of using such a short rod...I mean it's impressive and all that it didn't break...But I don't see why under normal circumstances anyone would choose to deep sea fish with something that actually makes it more difficult than it already is....Also...On smaller fish...It seems the rod would be far to stiff to be of any use at all...Like fishing with a broom handle...?

I've never seen such a small rod catch such a huge fish before. Congrats! Well done for letting it go too, bluefin are an endangered species and should not be served in restaurants anymore. Besides, on PEI, charter captains are only allowed one fish a month at their discretion. That guy had probably already caught his quota.

@neilconnell457912 жыл бұрын
to all you people asking why he released it. it is for the species. giant bluefin are a rare fish now, especially over 1000lbs. the population needs fish like that to reproduce and so does the human race because tuna are a huge part of the ocean ecosystem and our food source. also the people who are asking why the rod didnt break, its because us cape codders make great fishing equipment.

Leaving the hook in is a common practice.They use hooks that corrode and dissolve quickly,as its less damaging to the fish than trying to get the hook out.
