Every athlete trains differently. So Jillian Michaels having trouble with this workout means nothing about her athletic prowess. And of course you crossfitters are going to find this easier, this is what you guys do every damn day.

@TheKaryobin yes. they are both doing 135# (45 for the bar + 90 for the plates). it's a lot easier to do 135# when you're a male weighing 180+ vs a female weighing 120 pounds.

@pete1yt No, it doesn't. His plates are thicker, and his total weight is likely 95# (45# bar, 2x25# plates), while hers 65# (45#, 2x10#). The great thing about CF is the scalability of the WODs to a persons current level of fitness. Typically, a woman will have to lift less weight, jump to a shorter box (in this case hers is 20", his is 24"), etc.

@JulieCoultes The weights are only 10lb rubber bumper plates...we use rubber so the barbell and floor doesn't get messed up.

Again, it's functional movements. It isn't doing the bicep machine at the gym, its using multiple mix muscle groups to complete a movement. Now, does that mean that the guy doing only bicep curls won't be the best at it compared to a crossfitter, no. However a crossfitter, in general, when put up against a new physical challenge will more often be able to complete the challenge than those who just do specific muscle group training. Regardless, these are all movements an "expert" should know

just because you're a professional trainer doesn't mean you're going to think all fitness regiments are a piece of cake. certain trainers do well in certain routines--different types of cardio, different types of strength training, etc. obviously, you get better/stronger at it, the more you do it. even harper put up a video today stating how crossfit kicked his ass in the beginning and how he could barely keep up at start.

Yeah, looks like there are a ton of people who are unfamiliar with bumper plates. They may look heavy because they are all the same diameter but they have different thicknesses. If they had been pushing 135lbs., the plates would have been as thick as a small tire. These plates were very thin. Her bar was pretty light being at 55-65lbs depending on the bar. It looked like a 35lb to me. She burned her shoulders out doing the high pulls incorrectly. Bad coaching on Bob's part.

poor Jillian lol she is a badass to train others but she always find it hard to be trained xD "are you kidding?" she is so funny, i agree that Travis should had more weight on his bar & Jillian a little less height on her box so to make it the more close to fairness as she is so tiny & he is too tall, screw the "she is a woman & he is a man", is just about muscular mass & their height, it wasn't fair, Jill can do it yeah, but then don't make her compete against a dinosaur on "same" conditions!

crossfit standards womens box is 20" no matter how tall you are and mens are 24. and his weight was 95lb and hers was probably 65.

Actually bumper plates are all sized the same, no matter the weight. Reason being is so you don't have to drop the bar almost to the ground to finish or start each rep. This helps with learning the right form and technique with Olympic type lifts. There are even 5 pound training plates that have the same diameter as the 45 pound plates. :) She was probably pushing up less weight.

Jillian has always said she does more cardio than weight training. She uses her own bodyweight more than weights. To me it didn't look fair. Travis should of had more weigh on his bar. Jill also is shorter too, which takes more energy to get on top of the box. Crossfit is not made for everyone.

Mens box jumps are always higher than women's in Crossfit. Its not becuase he's taller as they have said.

No. Her bar is probably 65#. Those are most likely 10# bumpers on a 45# bar. His are probably 15# bumpers.

As a xfitter for over a yr, these are movements are DEFINITELY NOT difficult for ANY elite athletes I train w/, actually any xfit athlete past their first few months. Box jumps & med balls are standard & are seen pretty much every week in one form or another. The med ball was most likely 14lbs. As for the weight on the bar, I'd estimate that it had about 57lbs if the bar is a standard 15 kilo bar & each plate is 5 kilos. Every woman @ my gym can do this lift @ this weight. And I'm DEF not elite.

Those were some weak slam balls. No full arm extension. I can't imagine how bad they would have looked had they used actual slamballs. I would have thought that they would have been schooled off camera on the proper way to perform the movements. Jillian's SDHPs were pretty bad. All shoulder and no hip. And from the looks of them, I'm not sure they were even using 45lb olympic bars. The black ones we use are 35lbs. The 45lb ones are all silver.

Anytime you switch up your training you will struggle with the new style of workout. Don’t agree with Jillian at all about CrossFit but I can understand why she struggled with this WOD.

If you didnt know its pretty much unfair that a woman is against a man and they didnt have like almost any difference. He's at least 10 inches taller and he had to jump on same height and lift same weight

Jillian has not a chance to make it into the CrossFit Games. I guess she is not as fit as we all thought. Fitness: the ability to move large loads, long distances, and to do so quickly across broad time and age domains.

I hate to correct you, but Crossfit, is NOT specific. It's designed to be fully functional and up and down the spectrum of intensity, strength, stamina, balance, flexibility, etc. if done right. Crossfit is about being truly fit for life - not a specific race, lift or movement.

Travis did not look to be as tired as Jillian. He does not make a living being fit like Jillian. I often wonder about Jillian's training regiment. From what I understand she does not practice a lot of weight training. Watch her DVD's you would see that she is all about body strength training with light weights emphasized.

This workout is about as basic as they come for crossfit. Any athlete in decent shape would slaughter this thing. Jillian might look like she's in shape but based on this little 2 minute WOD, she's lacking in the conditioning department.

Wrong, Crossfit IS made for everyone. Complaining about differences? Maybe for a contest, but not for Crossfit as a workout. If it really was tougher for her, she should have been glad - it would have been for gain for her in the end! Just goes to show that she should be including weights in her training. She's a joke.
