I am overweight. I can speak on this. Jillian Michael's point was...why do we need to celebrate a woman's body anyways? She's a musician. Not a model. Basically stating there's too much emphasis on women's bodies and let's keep the focus on the art. She also spoke some truth. That we shouldn't celebrate obesity. Obesity does lead to health issues. Once you hit 40 all that fat ain't all that. It's harder to carry it around and Shake It. She wasn't trying to shame Lizzo at all. Jillian is a woman of science. The science of staying fit. When it comes to eating and exercising. She knows she is far from perfect and has said it on many occasions. But she knows what she's talking about folks. Stop making this about fat shaming. Because it wasn't her intention in the first place. I understand body positivity when it comes to the image. But any person who's been overweight for years and finally loses weight. When asked why they did it. The answer is almost always the same. For my health. Jillian's not fake and she's not going to give you an answer that's pleasing just to have people like her. She gave her open and honest opinion which is, obesity is not healthy. Being flexible, and being able to walk around is not indicative of being healthy. People need to stop lying to themselves.

Jillian is telling the truth. She was even kind to say that Lizzo was overweight whereas Lizzo is actually obese! Let's be honest.
@femwynn6292
@femwynn6292 4 жыл бұрын
the two aren't mutually exclusive. obese is a tired word, one that people use for shock value. and no, she isn't telling the truth.....because she doesn't know a single thing about lizzo that would be necessary in determining if she does XYZ or not. and she was not asked about her opinion on lizzo's weight. yet later when discussing her kids, she says she tells them not to be judgmental to people....holy shit on a stick, what a hypocrite.
@bzebee5979

fem wynn. Obese is not a overused word. Lizzo is obese! Overweight is 7-28lbs overweight. Lizzo is at least 50-100lb overweight. Lizzo is not healthy. Anyone can see at that weight Lizzo would not be healthy. Her joints are probably aching under all of that weight but Lizzo is not going to admit to that is she? People should not be encouraging that.
@SimpleLivingwithLexi
@SimpleLivingwithLexi 4 жыл бұрын
@@bzebee5979 I think you have it wrong. No one is celebrating her body in a way that being overweight is a good thing. But the fact that even though she is overweight and isn't insecure, isn't shaming herself because of it, she's confident in her own body and most importantly, she is happy with herself. She sets the bar really high and is inspiring so many people who go through depression because of how they look. No matter how big a person is they should always love themselves. That is lizzos message.

@@SimpleLivingwithLexi. She is not "overweight" she is OBESE! So let us get it right to begin with! People should love themselves and their bodies but I am sure that if heart, her joints and her internal organs could talk, they would tell her to lose weight!! Her obesity puts a strain on the internal organs and joints. She does not promote good health and those of you backing her "promotion" is in denial. No wonder so many AA women are obese and think it is ok to be this way - it is not!!
@SimpleLivingwithLexi
@SimpleLivingwithLexi 4 жыл бұрын
@@bzebee5979 okay, I never denied your facts being wrong, I was just stating what she stands for. And then you had to go and say that about African American women? Honey, I'm a powerlifter and I train every day, so I am well aware of what is deemed healthy and what is not today. Now, I don't know you so I'm not going to assume your race and then say some kind of stereotype about it. Regardless, being obese is not healthy can can cause many problems, yes. But no one should feel ashamed and depressed about themselves is all.

I've worked various hospitals for almost 30 years. Patients have gotten bigger every year. Obese patients come in more often, do worse, require more resources, and don't follow up as directed way more than normal weighted patients. There is nothing "positive" about type 2 diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure and premature death. Twenty years ago most people would have agreed on this bit of common sense, and of course every single doctor or medical practitioner. If you can't be honest about this you are a dangerous enabler and you are helping nobody.

Yes I do intermittent fast, but not everyday. I have tried weight watchers in the past but I always craved carbs/sugar. I would save points to have a “treat” or something sweet. I always felt like a slave to food. I felt bad after I gave in to sweets. When I was 3 months into keto- Initially my Endocrinologist (thyroid dr) advise against doing keto. I went to see him a year later and he was so impressed. My labs we’re all normal, my weight was down, my blood pressure was perfect. He told me to keep doing what I was doing. When I started keto I was breastfeeding at the time as well. I try to eat 7-10 cups of veggies a day. For my higher fats a lot of the time I will just eat half an avocado. Keto has changed my life! I don’t think I will ever stop. I tried hand made egg rolls 3 months ago from a friend and they made me so sick. I was throwing them up at 2am. Carb overload! Never again!

The Keto helped my son lose 60 lbs, so I tried it. Lost 12 lbs and realized I must have had a gluten and or sugar allergy, because my joint pain decreased about 70% on keto. I was able to hike mountains again. Now if I eat anything with sugar, I can barely get out of bed the next day. My son has always been an exercise addict, but was overweight due to his poor eating habits. He now understands how sugar and carbs made it extremely difficult for him to burn fat. He is so happy now.

But it’s a personal choice and there’s nothing wrong with that. We’re all going to die. Being healthy is just maybe preventing that by a couple years (morbid obesity life span is 76 for women) You should live your life how you want and just try to be happy. Living until youre 80 isn’t always a good thing. If Lizzo wants to be obese, who cares? CTE is found in 99/100 players in professional football. That rate really hasn’t gone up as we know and America still glamourizes it And the conditions from CTE are worse than obesity related problems

Curious what about what "negative side effects " she claims there actually ARE to being Keto-adapted, AFTER the short (several week) transition period of moving from a metabolic state that is dependent on the chronic ingestion of insulin spiking carbs/glucose vs. that of being keto/fat adapted that draws from the vast reserves of internal fat storage. Is it that insulin production is very efficiently managed and is not chronically spiked to deal with an excess of carbs/glucose in the blood? Weight management and ideal body composition is maintained without much effort? Is it that the chronic daily activation of the "fight or flight" response due to the daily roller coaster of low blood glucose levels experienced whenever a carb dependent metabolizer is without ingested carbs and as a result the process of gluconeogenesis consumes lean mass tissue...IS ALL PUT TO A HALT..... and the body in a fat-adapted state effortlessly produces its own now significantly lowered glucose requirements thanks to being in a fat-adapted state via gluconeogenesis FROM now amino acids as opposed to that lean mass tissue in carb dependent state. Is it that being in a keto adapted state tumor growth is moderated as opposed to being accelerated in the presence of excess glucose in a carb dependent state? Maybe Im crazy but these all seem like pretty significantly good things....?

Heart disease, diabetes, joint pressure, liver disease, cancer etc….Clearly we should not discriminate against Age, Sex, Race, Religion, Familiar status,Creed etc. but why make overweight people feel good about being unhealthy. We should support them and love them while they get to a healthy weight. No big deal. We don’t applaud Alcoholics, or smokers or anti maskers. It’s about health.

I agree. There is too skinny and too overweight. The reason why we obsess over it is due to our own insecurities. Eat well, laugh often, and tell the people in your life you love them as much as you can. That should be the focus. Social Media is like a rat chewing at the wires of our brains. I believe Jillian is not suggesting you should be a model, she is simply saying be in a healthy percentage of body fat. Move your body each day and stop looking for quick fixes. I have a friend who complains about being overweight and I just say, "it is in your control, so change it." The issue is that people are not driven enough, mind you, this does not include individual who have health conditions, but even so, that doesn't mean you cannot control what you put in your mouth. People do not wake up with eating disorders and need the support of not only a healthy active lifestyle, but the assistance of a mental health professional too.
