Best explanation of the difference between twisted and tubular! I watched 6 different videos and was still confused until I watched 3 minutes of your video! Thanks for appreciating my time!

Your videos on bead basics are by far the most accessible for a beginner and entertaining I have seen on youtube. I working on a project for my girlfriends birthday so having to learn a lot in a short time. I did have a little panic when you said "down two and up one" as I thought 'Oh my word everyone else was saying "down one up two" but loved that you explain why and with a test it does indeed have more of a twist to it. Great that you take time to explain things saves me looking bewildered and thinking "why are they doing that" as I have with some other videos.

Your instructions are always clear, and your insider beading wisdom that you share with us is so helpful. Would have never considered doing a down 1/up 2 (that IS difficult to sputter out, even in text, lol). I think I can see where the angle in which it goes over is less pronounced, straighter, so the spiral would be more subtle. Very interesting!! I may have to test it out. Thank you so much. Have a wonderful day, Jill.

Thanks for another great tutorial, Jill! Love your technique of the down 2, up 1 much better than the other way! You are right-the spiral is tighter and much more pronounced!! Love watching your videos!

Thank you Jill, once again, your video tutorials are the best of the rest!! I love listening to your explanations because they're expressed so intelligently and concisely. I have and love your book and I hope you'll do some tutorials from the projects there, because its so much easier to understand when you demonstrate it for us. On my wish list.....

Very helpful video, I’d forgotten how many to go down. I also find it helpful to stick a double pointed needle into the tube to create a handle of sorts.

🌼 Jill I've made one of these bracelets doing the up one, down two. First try and all didn't come out bad. But as they say practice makes perfect. So when I'm learning something new I do it five times so I'll remember it and hopefully after five times I'll have it own pat. So I decided to watch your tutorial as well. Picking all the beaders wonderful techniques and tips. I am not finished with the bracelet, but I had to stop and tell you I love ❤️ UP 2 - DOWN 1. I love ❤️ love ❤️ love ❤️ it. Thank you so much 😊 for the tip. Have a wonderful 🌞 day. B hap, hap happy 😊 my beading buddy! 💞 🌷 🙃🌸 This bouquet is for you. 💐

Wow! I never knew that down 2 and up 1 has a better spiral then up 2 and down 1 before. I tried making a spiral herringbone by using the latter and indeed the spiral wasn't that prominent. I'll definitely try making the down 2 and up 1 technique! Thanks for that! :)

WOW! Best instructions for spiral herringbone I've found. I tried to make a thin spiral for a simple short necklace, so went with 11/0 beads and ended up using just 4 in each round - 2 black and 2 haematite. Really pleased with it, but it's still a bit thick... Perhaps not the best stitch for what I want?

Love this stitch! And, I can testify to the "down 1, up 2". I have made many necklaces and bracelets playing with both ways... I wanted to reverse my direction on individual pieces (one side spiraling one direction and mirroring the opposite side) and did the1/2 and it turned out horribly. It is better to just reverse the direction of the stitch and stick to the "down 2, up 1".

Ah ha! So that's the difference. I tried a tri-color spiral herringbone after watching and it wasn't very twisted. I was doing the down 1, up 2 method. If I hadn't already glued on an end cap, I'd start over. Thanks for explaining the difference.

Hi Jill I love your videos, as they help me starting beading. I even worked out how to do it :-) and that feels great. Just one thing is not clear to me. How do you start new threads and how do you seem the threads up when finished the desired length of the bracelet. Is there a video? I have tried googling it, but nothing showed up ...

Just use a thread that matches up with the color beads as close as possible. If using a clear crystal I would use white or clear thread, it doesn't show for me :)

Hi Jill. I love your tutorials and they have helped me understand so many different techniques. However in one or two videos you gone out of shot and I cannot see what you are doing. Apart from that I will definately keep watching. You make everything so simple!

Avril Harrison It's been a learning experience to keep my hands in the shot! My producer has invested in a new camera that can shoot a bigger space and then zoom in on my hands digitally to help stay in the frame and it's helping a lot. It's hard staying in a 4x6" area! LOL

2 questions... To make a necklace, I figure the thread will have to be about 10 ft. long. That's a lot of thread to pull through each bead! Am I wrong? Can I use two size 8/0 colours and one size 10/0?
@Paroxid
@Paroxid 8 жыл бұрын
You can always add more thread, it's easier than trying to work with a really long thread. And yes you can mix and match different sizes for different effects :)
