@@christopherjohnferrer3771 Visual Kei was created to show japanese society that being different is ok and showing what you really think and feel is also ok. Visual Kei was created in early 80s, japanese people still are known as that they don't show their true feelings and don't saying what they really think, but in that times it was even worse, people were thinking that being even a little different that grey society was really bad thing. Then band X Japan (in that time just X), created music and visual style which were really different that anything else in Japan in that time, that was called as Visual Shock from their slogan "Crime of visual shock". In Visual Kei gender is not important, man can looks like woman and woman can looks like man and it's nothing bad in it, but it's not that it's about androgynous look, it's about expressing yourself, but in the same time there are many theatrical elements in visual side and in music, in traditional japanese theater all cast were men, so even female roles were played by men. Name of this whole movement, Visual Kei, don't showing what really Visual Kei is, because, as music, it's more about deep lyrics and great performance, talking about difficult topics about which people in Japan don't usually talk, visual side is just part of performance, in Visual Kei everything is important, talented musicians, melody, lyrics, costumes, music video (if song have it), live performance, everything must be on high level, it's art. Of course now there are sooo many variety of Visual Kei and not all are faithful to original assumptions, but you can say the same about for example metal music, which was created to talking about difficult topics, as opposite of hippie music, but now genres of metal music are different. And, to be honest, I'm always surprised when people can't say if Visual Kei musicians are male of female, I've never had that problem. :D I always can say if someone in that Visual Kei visual style is male or female. I'm sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language, I hope you will understand what I mean. ;)

@@tamashii6670 But I'm talking about this band Jiluka, androgynous looks by them. I know females can do visual kei too even idols can be visual kei like Mistress, even a rapper can you believe that :)

@@christopherjohnferrer3771 In Visual Kei you can find almost all music genres. And about Jiluka, only Sena looks more feminine for me, but still looks like guy, when I first found about this band it was obvious for me that all are guys, so, like I said, it's really surprising for me that people can't recognize men and women.

They are Visual Kei band, Visual Kei is very popular in Japan, you can find amusing visual kei rock bands there. Sena guitarist of the group is master of those taps, he is one of the best guitarists I ever know.

@@musikbyjh Another best examples of very talented visual kei guitarists are Hizaki and Teru from Versailles band. They are really masters of speed and every note and technic in their hands are clear and precise.

@@musikbyjh Another good suggestion on visual kei is Mejibray group. They were really special on performance also on visual. Their guitarist MiA is very good. He is fast and talented. He is close friend of Hizaki of Versailles and Sena of Jiluka. Mejibray dismantled on 2018 and their members are working on other projects but if you search their works you will really like them.
