I just discovered Jim Boyd‘s amazing career as I was researching a very early record of his from 1963, a single called Don’t Ask For More. It’s a beautiful philosophy of abundance and generosity, hardly the material for a hit in the “I win, you lose” world most of us live in. Still somehow it found its way out in 1963, and I’m glad I played it on the radio back then. Having done more research on Jim Boyd, that record shows its roots in his Native American culture, something seriously misunderstood by most of us Anglos. of course, I will never have the Dine cultural experience or heritage, but it doesn’t mean that I can’t appreciate it.

I love this song so much hits me all the time, it feels like for me. traveling again and so much people I knew are gone and it’s too bad all our loved ones are gone and taken too soon. I’ve felt that way for years since I lost my grandma I was really close too and for the past 3 years I miss her everyday and wish she was still here but I remember my mother told me and my family said she gave me a life and it hit me hard too 😥 and since this year I lost so many people I admire and a close friend I became friends with from an overdose and almost about to graduate and my friend is I miss too a lot. Every time I listen to this song it reminds me I should go visit my grandma up the states and I am going too very soon
