His hatred for initially being looked at, and being treated as, a "nerd", caused something inside of him to snap. He became the most frenetic, and the most venom-spewing Manager known to Wrestling...and who could blame him for that? Sometimes-Ya gotta do, whatcha gotta do! His different versions of The Midnight Express were one of the most awarded Tag-Teams of all time!

I used to record the Columbus, Ohio house matches in the late 80s. Wish I had not lost them in the many moves of my lifetime. Could have uploaded several great US Express vs Shiek/Volkoff, Andre vs Big John Studd and even had a Killer Bees vs Bulldogs match which was great. Saw so many of the "Legends" of that era.

You know, I always wondered about Ohio wrestling history. I'm over in Canton and it really seems like a no man's land. It seems like although there's an ok population, that it was always just a filler show for various territories.

@RockandrollNegro

@@pauldavis7310 Sheik's Big Time Wrestling got taken off Columbus TV in 1969, but if you had a strong enough antenna you could pick it up out of Cleveland or Cincinnati up until 1980. That was the main program in addition to WWWF. There was also the original Ohio Valley Wrestling (Lou Tillet's promotion) that ran from 1977-1980 on WCMH Channel 4, and that program was a mix of old Big Time Wrestling, Worldwide Championship Wrestling, ancient Haft and Barnett shows, and newer local house shows at the Memorial Gardens. Georgia Championship Wrestling bought their timeslot in 1980, so by then you just had Georgia (later Crockett) and WWF. Columbus was simultaneously starved for wrestling and also swimming in it. Al Haft kept all of the big promotions off local TV unless they were giving him a kickback. But by the mid-sixties, cheap high gain antennas and microstrip antennas meant most people in Columbus could get TV from Dayton, Cinci, Detroit, Louisville and Cleveland. I used to be able to pick up Pittsburgh channels on clear nights. We didn't have local wrestling, but we had access to a large chunk of the country.

In the late 1980s & early to mid 1990s I had a 12 foot antenna that could be extended to 14 feet & I could get all sorts of wrasslin from all around the southeast, plus, we lived on a hill anyways. I got to watch CWA, CWF, AWA replays, WWF replays, WCCW replays, various different Florida, Alabama & Tennessee shows, replays of WWC & others from Puerto Rico & my favorite the NWA/WCW shows & various others from the Carolina region. Which then I lived in Pendergrass & Gillesville Georgia. I had around 2,000 VHS tapes full of all kinds of wrasslin that I sold to another collector in the mid 2000s that also included every single VHS PPV & early special videos...

I can relate. Growing up in Sycamore ,I'll. We received AWA all star wrestling on Rockford TV on Sunday morning. Then when we got a TV that received UHF channels we got Dick the Bruiser's Indianapolis show on one of those channels. Then we also got the LaBell's LA TV on a Spanish language channel. On still another UHF channel we got the infamous Bob Luce wrestling which featured both Gagne and Bruisers talent at times.

Mike Bowermaster, you nailed it Pro Wrestling in it's current form is stagnated and stale even with the talent raid the WWE does to Impact Wrestling, ROH, & NJPW. Yeah while performers have recently and will sign with the WWE and were previously signed Impact Wrestling, ROH, & NJPW may attract attention it does not have any staying power. after a few months, those newly signed performers just becomes just another WWE employee. It's like having McDonald's as the only restaurant in a state w/ Coca-Cola being the only soda to drink. While I like McDonald's and Coca-Cola, having every single week gets old quick lol.

Mike Bowermaster that’s what I have been saying what’s missing. Even in mid 90’s there was WCW, WWF, SMW, ECW, and USWA. Different places had different styles and guys could learn new things everywhere they worked. Because of the territories wrestlers new how to get over and bookers learned how not to get stale. WWE seems pretty stale now and I believe that one of the reasons that companies like ROH and TNA will never get bigger is because of instead of starting off like a territory and learning how to get over and learning to book they go from nothing to trying Run Nation wide on day 1.

Some of my favorite memories as a kid was going to our local video store College Park video, and looking for movies/comics. Man I loved getting Godzilla, and martial arts movies. Little later Street & Barr split up, Barr disappeared, and Cornette was managing the Galaxians. Few months after that I moved to Portland, Oregon and got introduced to Pacific Northwest Wrestling with Rip Oliver & the Clan, Billy Jack (Haynes), Stan Staziak, and lo and behold here was Jesse Barr. Not long after that I got introduced to the WWF and the wonders of Cable TV which let me see the AWA on ESPN, WCCW, Mid-Atlantic Wrestling/WCW, Bill Watts UWF, even a few episodes of California Championship Wrestling and Polynesian Pacific (Hawaii)

Although I grew up in the Paducah-Cape Girardeau-Harrisburg DMA, which was technically WWA territory out of Indianapolis, no channels in that market carried it. You got Wrestling at the Chase on Channel 11 in St. Louis, ICW on Channel 3 in Harrisburg, IL, and by 1983 or so you got WCCW on Channel 23 in Cape Girardeau. For a short time around 1986-87 you got Memphis Wrestling on Channel 23 in Cape as well. If you plugged in your antenna, you might be able to pick up Central States Wrestling Sunday night on Channel 30 in St. Louis, as well as World Wide Wrestling. My cable system didn’t get TBS until late 1986, when I finally got to see World Championship Wrestling. Ah, the good old days!

Living in St. Louis, I was so jealous of you all in the Paducah/Cape/H'burg market for having ICW. I'd heard a lot about the Poffos. All we had during that early 80s time period was Central States, who had taken over the STL territory in a hostile buyout. World Class came along not long after I'd moved back from Kansas City in 1982, but everything was on Sunday mornings which was either church or work until I got a VCR.

You'd see his name in the magazines, with Mid-South or some other part of the western US; but rarely see photos and didn't see him on tv, unless you were in Mid-South. By the time I saw Mid-South he wasn't around.

@@jeffnettleton3858 There was a short-lived independent promotion in North Dakota in 1984, maybe lasting into 1985. That's the last I ever heard of Terry Orndorff.

hope corny won't take offense but to be honest the odds of that happening is astronomical. Anyway I'm looking at this picture....Exactly is this a unique captain and Tenille gimmick. Or the love child of Gilligan and the skipper. Kind of surprised neither caught on.

That's right! It was called 'Superstars of Wrestling' and used to come on channel 69 here in Atlanta from like '89 to maybe '93-94. That was my Saturday night as a kid! I used to watch it until it went off at 2AM with Calgary Stampede wrestling and USWA/Memphis wrestling! Loved those days! And I believe Boni and Joe Pedicino were married if I'm not mistaken. And don't forget Uncle Sammy and his puppet!

According to the great ONLINE WORLD OF WRESTLING website (here's the link: www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/bios/t/terry-orndorff/ ) Terry Orndorf WAS LEGIT Paul's brother; unlike "Mr. Wonderful", he wasn't passionate about the biz and left before big bro became a mega star.

Wikipedia says that Paul Orndorff has two brothers. A younger brother named Ray who wrestled on the independent circuit. The other is Terry Orndorff who went on to have limited success as a tag team wrestler with partners the Junkyard Dog and Kerry Von Erich.

Corny exaggerated their wealth to get over. Don't get it twisted-the Cornettes were well off in Louisville-his dad was a higher-up at The Courier Journal, but "Mama" Cornette was a fictitious character. In reality, she indulged Jim and drove him to The Gardens every week
