This animation first aired on the Sonny and Cher show back in the 1970s. The difference was, Cher sung the song for the cartoon. Here, they replaced her version with Jim's original.

I saw this ONCE when I would have been 10 or 11 when this episode came on. As I remember, It was Sonny and Cher Singing the song, not Mr. Croce... and the song had different audio. I remember "Doris's" husband growling sounding like a bear. I think Sonny and Cher came on like every Friday like at 7or 8PM in CA. Every time I heard the song after that, this video is the image I've had in my head. This is like a time machine for me. Thanks for creating this!

I worked as a cable TV installer back in the 70s and got to install the cable system in the Croce house in Point Loma. Mrs. Croce was very nice and showed me the office where his gold records were and his recording room. Jim had already passed away but it was a lasting memory for me as I was only 20 about 1974 and certainly kept that in my heart.

I was so lucky to see him at the Balboa Park out door setting in San Diego. It was even free Flash Cadillac was there too. Jim was such a natural performer and Maurys guitar playing was a perfect accompaniment .

I can remember when this first aired on Television. Sonny and Cher also aired a cartoon just like this called "Snoopy and the Red Baron" from the Royal Guardsman. That was the only cartoon I can remember where Snoopy was in an All Out, Knock Down, Drag out Dogfight with the Red Baron that ended with him shooting him down, then later saluting his commander while receiving a Medal for winning. All of my life I have been searching for this and so far I have yet to find it! 😯
