Lmao, Fowler's actually impressed with how Conan is not generally afraid of animals.

I'm not a pussy, but I would atleast flinch if a weird animal touches me. Conan would probably see a lion eating his arm, he won't mind and actually tell a joke about it.

it's always the little things that show how good Conan was as a host. The animal didn't react the way the guest wanted and Conan managed to turn it into a joke that makes the audience laugh

Jim Fowler was on the original TV show focusing on educating the public to animals, how they lived and the need for conservation. Funded by the insurance company Mutual of Omaha, ‘Wild Kingdom’ (1963-88) featured old timer Marlin Perkins as the host. He would narrate over the footage which often featured a young Jim and others capturing animals for study or to be moved to safer locations. I guess some of you don’t know his background. To those of you complaining about the treatment of the animals in this segment: You’re whining about almost nothing. The turtle didn’t care about being picked up. The frog wasn’t hurt because he got handled for 30 seconds. You have to look at the big picture. He’s bringing these animals on to entertain and educate people. And to promote things like Animal Planet. This leads to more awareness and to more conservation.

Man Jim is rough with that turtle. Of course he isn't hurting it but reptiles get stressed out from stuff like that.

Jim Fowler, my mom went to college with this guy. Then he was on TV, on "Wild Kingdom" (Sunday night TV in the 1970's). Jim must be in his 80's by now.

I have three of those white's tree frogs. The most amusing thing is that one of them croaks when ur talking to it or playing music.One shouldn't hold em too much though... You should also wear plastic gloves and keep em moist since it'd be more comfortable for the frog.

hes really hurting the frogs by drying them off and touching them with dry oily hands. also swinging the turtle around is super stressful for him
@SketchyGrl9 жыл бұрын
I was shocked when he asked him to dry the frog off. That's like taking the dust off a butterfly's wings.

First off, holy shit the inception of animal planet was way later than I expected. Also this guy would get torn to pieces in today's media cycle. He'd be out of a job right now. "He doesn't have much of a choice" wtf kind of evil shit is that
@mandoesitgood9 жыл бұрын
+teamworkformyfrainds Probably just a slip of the tongue but that grip is actually the proper way of handling large snapping turtles due to safety reasons, they can't bite the handlers when they're held that way.

@tommyhoneycutt91577 жыл бұрын
the guy is hitting the turtle on the top of the head to get him agitated to bite. tapping or hitting to get a reaction is imo stupid... given its not hurting the turtle but it's kinda fucked up to me.
@tommyhoneycutt91577 жыл бұрын
So if I slapped your mom in face but it didn't hurt wouldn't you get upset. It's taunting to get a reaction it's fucked up and I'm probably older then you are. I served two tours in Iraq and I'm an animal lover. So say what you want. My opinion is my opinion.
@mojojojo66076 жыл бұрын
He trying to show the people how dangerous they can be so they don't go hunting them. He's trying to protect these animals, and even though agitating it is cruel, the only way humans will listens is if they see it.

@Jurkyification5 жыл бұрын
Well that is the point of bringing those animals in talkshow where you literally don't have enough time to explain anything in detail. Instead they let them advertise their own show that has like 40 minute explanation of the animal. Edit: Oh and also when you bring them into comedy shows in the first place that is what they signed up for.
