Like the video but couldn't do 20 min boss. Have you worn the JG Rangers? Curious on the fit, especially toebox width as compared to the Numzaan
@aChannelAboutBoots9 ай бұрын
This is the only pair of Jim greens that I’ve worn
@travelfeet9 ай бұрын
I have both in the same size (12), The Numzaan is just slightly narrower and side by side matches very closely until you get to the toe. The Numzaan toe keeps going where the AR rounds off. I wear insoles in my ARs and feel the toe/toe cap on the top of my toes especially on downhills. I did not put insoles in the Numzaans and it feels like i have tons of room, almost to the point I considered I might go down a half size. I took a picture of my foot print inside the boot the other day and the fit looks perfect. There does seem to be some variation in the size of the toe caps across different pictures of the Numzaans I have seen. My toe caps are particularly long, and the back edge pushes into the top of my foot (left in particular) when I bend the toe. It's getting better, but I think the alignment of the caps are off (they do match on both boots), or at least they are at the limit of the range they should be. I have found some extra tight lacing helps pull my foot back enough in the boot to avoid the pinch while they keep breaking in. I have found the leather to be quite stiff. Break in is taking much longer than my other JG boots (AR, Razorback and Vellies).
@tonydragon7849 ай бұрын
I've got a pair of the barefoot rangers, very very nice with the leather insoles - super wide toe box but the barefoot ones don't have a sprung toe so if you hate poking the front with your toes I'd size up or grab the standard rangers with the wedge
@cwr86189 ай бұрын
@@tonydragon784I have the standard Rangers. Trying to figure out how they compare so I buy the right size and don't have to deal with return shipping but sounds like conflicting views on how the toebox fits.
@cwr86189 ай бұрын
@@travelfeetthat's an interesting point and probably the only flaw I've found with the Rangers - the toebox sort of rounds off too sharply, so my big toe also hits the end of it, while fitting perfectly in all other regards. Thanks for your input on the shape. I have super wide feet so I'm a little nervous that if I size up to get the width right, there will be more room beyond the toes than I usually like. I have my foot moving around in any shoe. Prefer a nice snug fit but not pinching.

Just got a pair in neutral. Was debating between a 10.5 & 11 because I have a wide foot. Ended up going with the 10.5 and compared to my Jk's & Origin boots which are wide models..the Numzaan are a little tight at the ball of the foot but I still have room to wiggle my toes. Im glad I went with the 10.5 because the length is spot on and I think with time they will def loosen up a little and be perfect. I must say...I LOVE the way these boots look, I think they strike the perfect balance while having their own distinct look. Very happy

@tobyl.17038 ай бұрын
Get the Jim Greens, redwings are overpriced
@patrickmiao16988 ай бұрын
From a longevity standpoint, because the IR are goodyear welted, they can be resoled more. Also the Iron Ranger has a extra layer of cork. But if price is your guide, JG are a better value, these boot will last 10years easy with a few resoles. I love my African rangers and my Iron Rangers. I might get a Numzaa because I like the way it looks as a work/casual boot but I really have too many boots at this point.

@@aChannelAboutBoots I bought them about a year and a half ago and have been working the hell out of them tromping around the deserts in New Mexico, and they have held up really well. They're almost due for a resole, but that's about it.
@ZephyrRandD9 ай бұрын
Do you think this would hold up as a work boot, good or better than a mass market boot; possibly with a lug sole; until my Frank's come in? How much, if any, arch support is there? Or could I add an orthotic if needed?
@LastNineBreaker9 ай бұрын
As long as it has a leather heel counter (inner back of the boot), it will last a lot longer than cheaper mass-market boots. The soles won’t last as long, but everything else is solid. Unless you’re a roofer, these will last years.
@patricklinkous9 ай бұрын
@@JohannSwart_JWS The lug sole Numzaan is available in the US, in stock on the site now. I have a pair coming this week. It's a softer rubber lug than the Razorback, so we'll see how it holds up as a work boot.
@aChannelAboutBoots9 ай бұрын
I think they would hold up as well as any commonly used boot, yeah. As long as you understand that the sole is very soft. There really isn’t any arch support and for me it’s roomy enough to put some kind of removable insole in it. Don’t know if it would accommodate your orthotics.

I wear mine as work boots and I have been wearing them since January every day. I manage a lumberyard so I am constantly dropping things on my toes and they get beat up. Once they are broken, they are the most comfortable boot I have ever worn and they are much much more durable than the redwing iron Ranger or wolverine 1000 mile in my opinion. I have owned both of those brands and these are hands-down the most well built boot I have ever owned.

@RickN139 ай бұрын
I have the same boots in the natural color and, while I really like them, they are not without their problems. The eyelets arey biggest complaint, as they have been on other JG boots I've owned. They aren't installed very securely and have a tendency to come loose. I admittedly didn't watch the whole video because it was a bit long-winded so I'm not sure if you mentioned it, but I can even see the same thing on your boots too. The last eyelet before the speed hooks on the outside of your right boot appears to be loose and you can see the hole punched through the leather underneath it peeking out just a bit. This happened on several eyelets on a couple pairs of JG boots I've purchased. I've emailed them and they're apparently working on it so hopefully it's fixed in the near future. Other than that I love the boots.
@aChannelAboutBoots9 ай бұрын
What was the time stamp where you saw this? I checked the eyelet you were talking about and it’s in there solidly and doesn’t look any different than the other ones. I tried to push it through from both sides and then wrenched on the lace going through it and it’s fine. Checked the rest of the eyelets doing the same. All in their fine.

@@aChannelAboutBoots going back and looking again it may have just been the lighting. Glad you're not having the issue though. I gather from your video that you haven't had this problem, but some of the reviews on the Jim Green website say that they do not cinch down. Basically there's too much material in the gusseted tongue and there's a big gap left after cinching. It was only two people, but there are only three reviews so it seems like a pretty high ratio. And those two people said they returned them.
@aChannelAboutBoots7 ай бұрын
I have a short where I test the sole on some wet tile. So you can see what they look like on me all laced up and that was when they were new. The leather starts out pretty stiff, so I can see how someone who isn’t used to that wouldn’t like it. I had no issue. I’m used to wearing PNW boots that use overly stiff and heavy leathers, folding the tongue over on itself, and then putting a kiltie of that same overly heavy and stiff leather on top of that. I don’t know, I just pull harder.
