Breath work really helps too. Every inhale and exhale elevates your heart beat and gives you oxygen. Focusing on an activity will produce a certain breathing rhythm, often you end up exhaling a lot, and breathing too shallow. Become conscious of this and you can use your breath as the reigns to your awareness and energy. Lately in the morning I’ve been dealing with that drowsy brain fog that makes you want to fall back asleep, and to combat it, I begin hyperventilating purposefully, in and out short quick breaths to make my heart beat faster and then every 6th breath or so, I inhale as deeply as I can and then hold. Then repeat process like 3 times. Sometimes though I’m in such a brain fog that I’m not thinking at all. This is a little trickier. For this I think the only thing that works for me is meditating before sleep and giving my intentions for how long I want to sleep and when I NEED to wake up, and when I’m thinking about when I need to, (and I say need vs want) I intentionally give myself “anxiety” and induce the feeling of panic that: “I need to wake up at this time, my life depends on it” or something similar to that, and it causes my brain to feel that anxiety right when I first open my eyes, and that will shake me out of brain fog. Hope this helps somebody.

@@BestFavorite UPDATE: reading this over, I’d have to change what I said about Affirming Needs over Wants, what has worked best (for me anyway) is making “I Will” statements. The difference is that saying “I need” is like dependency on an outcome, where as saying “I will” is an absolute statement. Sometimes though I say: I need and I will, to emphasize importance. Meditating before bed and setting intentions has been the one thing that has helped me control my sleep/wake schedule. I’m now down to only needing 5 hours of sleep. To help train my body to be ready to go though, working out in the morning immediately when waking up has been a game changer to gaining the energy I need. At first it was difficult to implement the discipline because it didnt feel like my body had any energy to move. But that’s because my body was in a state of comfort from being at rest, so I just had to move without thinking about it, make myself move and move as if I am perfectly capable, and my body responds and then starts to “activate” and then the energy flows.

I don’t have a lot of time to answer right now, but a good starting point : -The podcast about mental toughness with Joe Rogan and David Goggins (you can also watch the short 20 minutes version if you don’t have 2 hours). -There are also a couple of 6 to 10 minutes videos from David Goggins, I’ve learned thanks to him and a few other authors that mental toughness is significantly more effective then ‘’motivation/inspiration’’ and it might feel cliché, but the more you strengthen your mental toughness, one day at a time, the easier it gets to make the hard choices consistently, every day.

It's probably multiple things. One major factor is that, unfortunately, too many people want to only talk and never listen. When someone else is talking, they often focus on what they want to say in response, or think about how what you are saying affects them, or something else self centered - so, they are not really listening, just hearing.
