If I remember correctly golden boy was at the edge of going under if it wasn’t for canelo, especially after the majority of his top fighters had left golden boy, most likely due to the same reason that canelo left. (Oscar was stealing from his fighters). If anything Oscar should be grateful that canelo kept golden boy on the map for the decade to come. Even now canelo is the face of boxing, and he accomplished that without golden boy. Which I can’t say for many other fighters that came and went under golden boy.
