I started following college basketball in the mid-1980s and Nantz has always been a voice of it; first as the host and then the announcer. But it's time. For the better part of the past 20 years he has only done a game or two the entire regular season and swooped in at the very end for March Madness. He's done great work for 32 years but I absolutely agree with allowing an announcer like Eagle, who calls college hoops games for CBS all season, to become their main voice of the sport. Eagle has more than earned the opportunity.
@otaviofrnazario2 жыл бұрын
I think he had no regular season assignmets between Kentucky-Carolina in 2011 and Memphis vs Houston last season. Only the Big 10 tournament and March Madness. I understand, he calls pretty much everything on CBS. But I also would love to see Ian Eagle calling the final four

I think that's mostly because he has to do so much work from September through January each week to prepare for the NFL games he calls.

I remember when Musburger did his last NCAA title game for CBS, after he voiced the dramatic tournament matchups of the 1980s. Who could have expected then that the games, the moments, the drama would get exponentially better when Nantz took over.
@otaviofrnazario Жыл бұрын
true... the bad thing about Musburguer is that he was kicked out of CBS, and couldn't go on his own terms. Nantz had that chance. What I really love about college hoops overall is that there is a balance that seems to be bigger than in other sports. Any day can be a day for upsets. There are many smaller teams that we don't follow all that well during the regular season that have their shining moment when March comes. I mean, look at that Lehigh that defeated Duke, they had CJ McCollum. A lot of hidden talent
