What I grapple with here is... why need to know the source of reality? Why not enjoy experiencing our illusions? Why do we make that wrong in our aspiration to find the source of beingness, or non-beingness depending upon which way you look at it. To note here: I love how this guy doesn’t make illusions wrong, even though he sees that they have no core, no solidity, because WE have no core or solidity! What if illusion is also contained within non-duality, where there is nothing outside of non-duality. In our illusions we are simply experiencing the micro instead of the macro - or as part of the macro... if that makes sense! 🙏

Source of reality all agree is a mystery. It shows up Being everything/nothing , no where and every where .The illusionary me makes it mean something via concepts and beliefs, which is also the mystery being a separate self. "Jim " does bring humor to the mystery and is not charging thousands of dollars . Good bargain if you can get yourself out of the way. ...No me no problem and the mystery flows as it is.

Please, 80% of the dialogue is garbled, due to the captions going awry, distorted by poor translation. And the lousy voice pickup from microphones in use. Hence it's difficult to extract meaning to the ongoing dialogue! Terrible presentation due to lack of microphone setup. Why is that not seen thru?

I think Jim is exploring the "nature" of the moment, extrapolating it into a big understanding of how consciousness works. His view is essential but reductionist. As if it explained everything we know; but I think he has a unique perspective coming from his own truth of nonduality.

This guy has a tone of like, It happened to me, I am nothing you are nothing, no one will get it, but at the same time he has that slight arrogance about it. He says it is all hopeless to even try for enlightenment. It will happen but noone can do anything or nothing can be done for others to live without ego. I like him but the way he has to chosen to explain is crazy, but then all masters have their uniqueness and eccentricities.:)

You've stated it EXACTLY as he and the neo-Advaitans really are, with all that "this is it", "it's just what's happening", "nothing and nobody to gain anything", "nothing ever happened." All this means something when you live "your" life in accordance with this recognition, NOT just by having a split second awakening into it. Plenty of people, given the right circumstances or "timing" can indeed recognize this but very few if any of them retain that in their relative day to day existence. And a fair number don't even grasp that these Advaitan concepts can lead to absurd justifications by those not mature enough(i.e, I'm at liberty to rob a bank because, well, after all there's "nobody" doing it). No less than the Buddha himself emphasized the relevance of the Relative co-existing with the Absolute.

Jim, isn't it proof that there is such a thing as a self if you consider that people have attested to being self aware after they have left their bodies and returned?
@billyjo18818 жыл бұрын
+David Leitman I would say David that is a memory { a concept } of an experience, experiencially nothing is happening. Linguistically we can never describe what we are experiencing right Now, as soon a we try to describe the Now we are really describing what happened " a little while ago "
@davidleitman8 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill, are you saying that if infinity is all there is ("this" as Jim calls it) that there is not eternity? maybe just like space and time are parts of the same thing, not separate as we would perceive them to be in this dimension. But that infinity/eternity might be part of the same thing too, so that "this" is co-illusory with "now" I'd very much like to know your thoughts on this Bill David
@billyjo18818 жыл бұрын
+David Leitman Hi David my strong suit is not science its more in language. What Jim is sharing as is Tony Parsons is dissolving the importance of the separate self so as what is happening is simply happening, thus,,,, This is it. A scientist would add meaning to what is happening thus reinforcing the separate self and liberation and freedom becomes trapped in another concept of what is happening. We cant couch experience in concepts. Two very distinct domains of epistemology. As Jim would say no one knows this because no one is here in absolute zero " time " I shows up in relative time as a story as a concept of what is happening.
@davidleitman8 жыл бұрын
so self is not separate, but the thing that attests that it is is the illusion of self, is that what you're saying? I guess my question was what is eternity? Would you say eternity is an illusion?
@billyjo18818 жыл бұрын
+David Leitman Good question David. What I am enjoying about listening Jim, Tony Parsons and Ella May is their take that the separate self is an illusion. Most mystics have stated the world is illusion. That statement the world is illusionary at least in my experience did nothing to dissolve the separate self. I find listening to Jim, Tony and Ella and their communication that me is the illusion distinct from the world very liberating. So not sure if eternity is an illusion but the separate self as what is being communicated as the illusion seems to allow the me to no longer be so important and the This is it.. of eternity is directly experienced. So would say David the separate self is the illusion and eternity is felt with a sense of aliveness using pure attention from pure Awareness. Eternity would be the ground of Being of what's possible once the seperate self loses its self importance.
