He probably checked out clips of the competition when he knew he was nominated, or he'd seen bits of their shows in passing beforehand. I'm aware of what many actors do without really "watching" their shows in the usual deliberate, regular sense.

Aaron Ross It seems extremely likely that if I were nominated for something, I'd look at what all my fellow nominees had done even if I'd never even heard of them before. Be it a poetry competition or acting. The most unlikely scenario would be someone not having any curiosity about their competition at all, just because they didn't watch their shows usually.
