Omg ikr, maybe that is why it is so weird seeing Sheldon not knowing stuff, bc you still think it's Sheldon bc he's not that different so you still recognise him as Sheldon and expect him to be identical in other ways as well as voice and mannerisms. And appearance. Obvs lol

@thedivinityman

Germanium is a grayish-white metalloid in the carbon group, and it was used to make the worlds first transistor, which is natural because it shares characteristics with Silicon, but it is more easily found in its pure form than Silicon

I can imagine Jim just walking around his house singing "The Elements Song"! Which was what I was doing when I learnt the song! I didn't even have any reason to learn it - one day I was just like "I know - I'm gonna learn the Elements Song"! My mum actually walked in the room and was like "What are you doing?" and I was going "I want to learn a song where you recite all of the elements in the periodic table really quickly." My mum was just stood there like "......oh." You could tell she was stood there thinking "Why have I got such a strange daughter?"

I grew up listening to Tom Lehrer’s music and singing along to every song. I knew the lyrics to “the elements” before I ever even studied the periodic table in school- in fifth or sixth grade I think is when the lyrics actually started making sense and actually proved helpful when my classmates were struggling with the pronunciation of some of the elements. But this song- the fun, pleasant, patter delivery the of periodic table has been second nature to me for as long as I can remember. Seeing Sheldon struggle with this is so unnerving for me lol. I guess I’ll have to find a way to take my mind off of it- maybe I’ll go poison some pigeons in the park*... or better yet- I’ll go dance to the masochism tango!* * Poisioning Pigeons in the Park and the Masochism Tango are two other popular and fantastic songs by Tom Lehrer
