When unstable systems start to falter, the pace at which they unravel speeds up.
Which is why we're bringing back James Rickards to the program today, even though he was last on just a few months ago.
Much of what Jim predicted predicted when last on this program: accelerating disinflation, continued trade disruptions, a Fed hell-bent on 'higher for longer' in its hawkish interest rate policy -- has built momentum since his last appearance.
Given the quickening pace of events, we thought it wise to get an 'audible' from Jim on where he thinks things are headed next.

At Wealthion, we show you how to protect and build your wealth by learning from the world’s top experts on finance and money. Each week we add new videos that provide you with access to the foremost specialists in investing, economics, the stock market, real estate and personal finance.
We offer exceptional interviews and explainer videos that dive deep into the trends driving today's markets, the economy, and your own net worth. We give you strategies for financial security, practical answers to questions like “how to grow my investments?”, and effective solutions for wealth building tailored to 'regular' investors just like you.
There’s no doubt that it's a very challenging time right now for the average investor. Above and beyond the recent economic impacts of COVID, the new era of record low interest rates, runaway US debt and US deficits, and trillions of dollars in monetary and fiscal stimulus stimulus has changed the rules of investing by dangerously distorting the Dow index, the S&P 500, and nearly all other asset prices. Can prices keep rising, or is there a painful reckoning ahead?
Let us help you prepare your portfolio just in case the future brings one or more of the following: inflation, deflation, a bull market, a bear market, a market correction, a stock market crash, a real estate bubble, a real estate crash, an economic boom, a recession, a depression, or another global financial crisis.
Put the wisdom from the money & markets experts we feature on Wealthion into action by scheduling a free consultation with Wealthion’s endorsed financial advisors, who will work with you to determine the right next steps for you to take in building your wealth.

The only thing you can do is make sure you're ready and plan accordingly because recessions are a natural part of the economic cycle. I began my career during a recession (2009). Aerial acrobatics on cruise ships was my first job out of college. I've developed my own business, am a vice president at a large corporation, own three rental homes, invest in stocks and businesses, and have seen a growth in my net worth of two million dollars over the past four years.

Let's face it, increasing stock and index fund purchases during downturns and bear markets is unnerving. Which makes it very difficult for most people, like me, to do. It's challenging to incur the risk of investing the one million dollars that I have in an S&S.

Economists and business leaders are voicing concerns at the start of 2023 that the year could be a difficult one. JPMorgan Chase & Co. Chief Executive Jamie Dimon said that the Federal Reserve may need to raise interest rates to 6% to fight inflation, higher than the peak level between 5% and 5.5% in 2023 that most Fed officials penciled in after their December meeting. Although I read an article of people that grossed profits up to $500k during this crash, what are the best stocks to buy/short now or put on a watchlist.

The majority of people using these strategies are making significant profits; yes, the risks are larger, but isn't the ongoing business sector equally risky? From what I can discern, the go-to strategy for navigating this downturn and high expansion is momentary trading rather than long-term trading.

Since the outbreak of 2020, which significantly affected the market, I've been consulting an investment coach before making any investment decisions because their entire philosophy is built around employing a high-profit orientated plan while simultaneously trading long and short, as well as decreasing risk exposure as a hedge against inevitable downtrends. This recession is most likely the result of an external factor. For the first time in decades, the United States is losing its clout as a federal reserve currency. They don't have any more economies to use to control inflation, and less money is being spent on stock and oil trading than in the past. They all lend support to the idea that a new multilateral world order is in the works.

When coupled with their access to odd data and analysis, underperformance is virtually impossible.

Powell is NOT committed to fighting inflation to stabilize prices. He proved that with his .25 increase in rates Fed 1. Inflation is increasing again. Lumber prices have gone up significantly in just the last few weeks. He has sold out the poor and middle class for the rich and the controlling class. All of this "slow" and drawn out so-called inflation fight has done nothing to relieve pain of those that can't afford it. Powell should have "shocked" the markets with an increase in rates that matches or exceeds the true inflation rate. In addition to that monopolies should be busted up especially in the medical, technology, and retail sectors. Regulations that cripple American businesses should be gutted, free money and benefits from the government should be cut off entirely except for social security and Medicare only for US citizens who were born here to US citizens and to those who immigrated here legally. Entrepreneurial free enterprise should be fully embraced as it once was. The government should stop printing money and live within its means, in fact it should gather up trillions of dollars in the world and burn it. These measures would be a START to fighting inflation, strengthening the dollar, and restoring price stability.

This was another great discussion in general. I share the best interviews on Facebook, for my small number of economy, market, and Fed observer pals. However, it seems often the titles have a sensational edge to them that tends to diminish the credibility in advance. This leads me to say things in my share post like "Pay no attention to the sensational lurid title - this is really a useful discussion full of valuable insight!" to entice people to view who otherwise dismiss them as too fringy. Would it be possible to tone that aspect down a bit? I'm afraid it diminishes the impact Wealthion could otherwise have. I've even gone so far as to hide the KZbin preview from the post (leaving a bare link) to avoid making Wealthion (and me) look flaky....

There seems to be a fairly broad consensus amongst Wealthion guests that 2023 should be painful. Some of this seems premised on the market crash in 2018 when interest rates were about the same as now. I know debt levels are much higher now along with somewhat broken systems from COVID. Still, it would be interesting to have a guest explain in some depth the similarities and differences between then and now.
