Randy Candy was so underrated. The first wrestler I remember as a 7 year old along with Bulldog Bob Brown.

This role is important both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. This is why GM’s and commissioners have taken the places of traditional managers. You could anchor a show with this person booking shows and offering reasons, rationale and considerations to an incompetent and underhanded assistant. And it goes without saying is that’s probably how Watts rolled.

“They’re not coming to the show.” “What if we had a BIG show?” “…genius. Innovator.”

Once again total nonsense from Ross. The first proper Supercard was "Superbowl of Wrestling" held on August 12, 1972 and not only was it a Supercard featuring a lot of the biggest names at the time (Abdullah the Butcher, Bobo Brazil, Ernie Ladd, Fabulous Moolah, Vicki Williams, Johnny Powers, Johnny Valentine, Wahoo McDaniel, Killer Tim Brooks et al), it was even a cross-promotional event between the NWA and NWF. So give credit to Johnny Powers, because he (owner of the NWF) came up with the whole idea to begin with.

two things. 1. dave meltzer wrote this, not jim ross. jim ross is responding to meltzer's write up 2. cross promotion supercards were not unknown even before 1972. but this card in particular involved one promotion. prior to it you are correct there had been huge cards with multiple promotions adding to the card but this event at the superdome involved only one promotion which did become the standard bearer for closed circuit and ppv "super cards" to follow
