I just found this and it's been the best podcast I've ever listened to. Loved Jim's no-bullshit approach and some of the tongue-in-cheek knock of some so-called superstars of the carp world! Will now be looking for more stuff from Jim.

Jim is a master at. Carp fishing , he thinks everything thru and makes sure it is as good as can be . But is willing to change his style if is needed , he has found his own way , his fishing abroad is a breath of fresh Air to him and to those that follow him

Ha. Did some hand lining ( floating crust) with Jim back in the day during the closed season at Rushbrooke lake. Even then he knew what how n when. We were just kids mucking about. Still he had a sense. Obviously still got it. Nice one Jim.

Another quality production guys. Great to hear Jim Shelley’s thoughts on rigs and his direct personal experience of what he sees when doing tuitions which mirror my own. Hook sharpness and line integrity are often overlooked and yet they are absolutely fundamental to success. Many anglers just don’t pay these details anywhere near the amount of attention required to be really successful. Hooks and line are cheap in the scheme of carp fishing.

When started to fish for Pike then Carp in the early to mid 80's the front drag on the Mitchell 300 couldn't really be trusted. So we back wound. These days modern reels are in a different league to back then. That aside, more great stuff again from Uncle Jim..

always intresting stuff with Jim ... shame he blocked me on insta (years ago) why I am not to sure, but I love the stuff he does on film these days

First half of podcast was brilliant, then it was like Jim suddenly remembered why he was there. Shelley: "Chods, markers, light leads, find fish, sharp hooks, keep it simple, no spods, no leading about, no marker floats, less disturbance....." NASH: "JIM!" Shelley: "Erm yeah so all that stuff doesn't work anymore now and a few other anglers have said the same. Carp have wised up. Now all you need is the Darkside Rig Edge, heavy leads, find a spot, bait, bait boat, spod, bungee line rubbed in tungsten, lead clip, this is where it's at now. This realisation just came to me when my Mrs made me tidy out the fishing toilet and maybe I got done on the chod in the margin or maybe not I don't know. But yeah Darkside is where its at now...

Found one thing really confusing, he says to use a leader as long as you need to if it’s extra weedy but then also says he normally uses 6 or 7ft of lead core. Can anyone clarify ?
