We have one of these at work and I had to use a 50 foot extension cord to do the job. It worked as good as if were plugged right into the wall. I was so impressed with this welder that I am buying one for my house. Price is worth it.

+Jimbo's Garage Isn't 6011 for an A/C welder? I also have the same machine, well (maxstar 150 stl) and was having the same issue. It will burn 7018 all day! But switch to 1/8" 6010 and i will get a 3" run out of it before i loose the arch. Thought it was me. But i see im not the only one with that issue. Was going to get 220 outlet installed in my garage, because i have yet to use it on 220. Still love the machine!

I have the 150 stl and I love it .I haven't done any tig welding with it yet need to get a bottle but have welded up a lot of stuff with 7018 and 6011 rods with it I got the three MVP plugs for 110,120 and 220 volt don't have a 220 outlet to plug into though it will run 100 amps 100% duty cycle on 110 volt and 150 amps 30% duty cycle on 220 volt I'm currently working on a brush guard for my Colorado 3/32 7018 burns nice on 110 volt.

I went through about 4 of these maxstars, all from the same problem. Miller should really rethink the way the AC plug connects to the machine, its a hard wire connection, inside it connects to a circuit board. After a while, no matter how gentle you are handling the welder the ac wire becomes lose and causes the unit to shut, sometimes I spend 2 or 3 minutes wiggling the wire hoping it stays on. I hope they notice this problem, I can't be the only one. They should make something like a twist lock making the cord removable when not in use

JIMBO'S GARAGE. I'm looking for an advice please! I'm looking to buy a stick welding machine, and my plan is to use it at home, here and there. So my power at home is only 110 no option to 220. I saw this nice Lincoln at Lowes K-1170 model, for around 300 dls. but is 240 AC input voltage. The other option is a Century K-2789-2 arc welding machine for about 260 dls. I know Lincoln, Miller, Hobart machines are great, but never knew about Century. For the colors they use on the presentation, it seems to be the low budget line of Lincoln. Any how I need a 120 voltage input machine for home and my budget isn't the best right now. Love that little Miller you just tested. Also The Fronius Traspocket (from Austria)I saw before your video. Budget is my issue. Please any advise or recommendation. Thanks!
@JimbosGarage6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, Your going to be limited on what you can weld with 110 v, If you can get a 220v installed in your garage or shop that would be best!, Then i would recommend the Htp inverarc 200tlp it is the best and smoothest arc in a stick machine i have ever used. Jimbo!
@Lizard-of-Oz6 жыл бұрын
@@JimbosGarage Thanks for replying Jimbo. Just saw the video you've posted on that welding machine(HTP 200) really nice. I saw the options it offers, and again, my budget. My budget is my problem! I have been buying other tools; at least once or twice at month. Yes I know a 110 input is not the ideal for a welding machine, it only gives you at the most 80 amps and it limits other possibilities. I did iron works back in the late 80's. Since then I haven't touch any other welding machines. My option then will be the Lincoln K-1170 has the 220 input, and yes I have to get the 220 volt installed in the garage. Thanks for your time Jimbo. Ps. The 110 input pops the breakers and only allows you to burn about half of a whole stick. Saw that on another video, and I'm planning to expend some time welding, doing some projects I have on mind. Have a good day and again thanks for taking the time to reply!

Trying to get back into welding (haven't struck an arc since high school!), have some aluminium projects that I need to work on and have a few questions. 1) What's the thickest metal it can weld and 2) Since it has the tig ability, I can weld aluminum on this smooth, correct? Appreciate any input that helps! I also plan on doing some odd and end welding like putting metal legs on an old table where the wood has rotted. I'm tempted to buy but would like some input on these factors before I hit buy!
@JimbosGarage9 жыл бұрын
+Jonathan B Thanks for watching Jonathan! That machine is not tig capable. You will need a A.C.machine for tig welding aluminum. An AC-DC machine will be around $1,000 at best. If you have welded before, You don't lose your touch! lol, lol, Just practice. Jimbos garage!
@jamiebuckley17698 жыл бұрын
that machine is capable of tig welding carbon and stainless steels. add a tig torch and argon on dcen and your set to go. he could also use alluminum stick electrodes on dcepositive and weld alluminum that way as well. hope this helps.
@karolthiesen47077 жыл бұрын
Aluminum stick welding is a niche option in my opinion. Watch some videos of people trying to see if it is right for you. For my money an inexpensive AC/DC welder like an Everlast 185 or 200dx would be a better option for people looking to do a fair bit of aluminum work.
@jeffreypizza77917 жыл бұрын
Jonathan B know how that is I was welding about two weeks ago and my stick welder went out on me and started sparking like fireworks on the inside now I'm looking for a Mig or stick welder at a good price. What is your opinion or anyone's opinion on Everlast welders
@Yashiro-nene_dies5 жыл бұрын
You can convert any stick welder to a tig welder but you won't be able to use a foot pedal and needs to be scratch start to initiate the arc. You won't be able to weld aluminum as it does not have AC.

What is the secret ! It's fun , but a little frustrating ! Runs 7018 , 6013 , 6011 , 1/16 , 3/32 , 1/8 no problem ! Help I have about ,15 or 20 lbs of 6010 electrodes ! Thanks bro' !
@JimbosGarage9 жыл бұрын
+Mr. Heiss Thanks for watching, Some machines run 6010 well others don't. It is a polarity thing. I think 6010 only run well on dcep, Where the 6011 will run well on everything! They are almost the same rod. If you have an application where you need to run 6010, using the 6011 i will work fine. You will get the same results. Jimbos garage! p.s. try some 7014 they are fun. They weld very clean. Good practice rod.

Hey Jimbo. Question, for the ultimate in portability can this welder in the field be run off a 240v 30 amp capable generator? if so could i run 1/8 6011 or would i have to stick with 3/32?
@JimbosGarage7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, Yes it can run off of your generator, I think you can get about 140 - to 150 amps on 240 so your 1/8'' 6011 should be fine! , I think 1/8'' 6011 works good on about 80-90 amps. The duty cycle might be low at that many amps though. Jimbos garage!
