Lord Buddha visited Kapilavatthu after His enlightenment. After the renunciation of prince Siddhartha, prince Nanda became the crown prince. Arrangements were being made to have the prince Nanda's coronation, coming into occupation of the palace and marriage ceremony on the same day. It was during this time that the Lord Buddha visited the palace and preached. King Suddhodana and queen Prajapathi attained the first sainthood in path to Nibbana on hearing the Dhamma.
On that day, the Lord Buddha was getting ready to go back to Nigrodharamaya after preaching Dhamma. Prince Nanda was standing close to him. The Lord Buddha handed over his begging bowl to prince Nanda. Prince Nanda was very happy because his brother was a Buddha. The Lord Buddha was slowly walking towards Nigrodharamaya with the monks. Prince Nanda thought the Lord Buddha would take back the begging bowl near the steps to the palace or entrance. But the Lord Buddha did not take it back. Therefore, prince Nanda had to follow the Lord Buddha.
At this time Janapada Kalyani, the very beautiful princess who was to get married to prince Nanda was watching from the balcony. She made signs with eyes and hands and requested him to come back soon. He also smiled indicating that he would come soon. Ultimately, prince Nanda walked up to Nigrodharamaya with the begging bowl and handed it over to the Lord Buddha there.
The Lord Buddha asked prince Nanda, "Nanda, isn't it good if you also become a monk like these other monks?" Prince Nanda could not do anything. Memories of Janapada Kalyani started coming to his mind. All along, he was thinking of running back to the palace. But the Lord Buddha was now asking him to enter the order of monks. How could he refuse the request of becoming a monk by his dearly and beloved brother? It was impossible. So he agreed.
But there was beautiful princess Janapadkalyani Nanda waiting her beloved in the palace.When all preparations for her marriage were taking place; she decked out in her finest dress and sat in the mandap decorated with flowers and with the banana stems raised on its four corners, the news of Nanda's renunciation was announced all of a sudden. The news came as a blow on the bride-in-waiting. Shocked and terribly hurt, she swooned.
But she later wished to become a nun and join her beloved in the finest regime of Buddha.She sings this song then...

In this royal-clan of worldly -grandeur,
I am passing my days of full of pleasure,
I don’t want to die playing melodious music,
And listening to tasteful, entertaining songs…
Instead in a scary graveyard or in a rest house,
If not there then in a deep thick jungle,
Tying my consciousness in the midst or sided ground,
I will die learning that Nanda have become an Arhat…

This is one of the most beautiful, literal. sweet and tragically thrilling song collected in Gyaan maalaa bhajan which is taken from a Buddhist epic [mahaa-kaavya] named 'Arhat Nanda' by D. R. Yami, the father of Hisila. The singress Sangita Shakya is the daughter of Ushtaad Bhairab Bdr.Thapa. There're some words mistakenly pronounced in this song, they're :: : at 3:10 , its "Bweta" [to fly], not 'sweta' [to see]; : at 3:36 , its "Dhyeney [to cut], not 'dhyena'; : at 4:30 , its "Sah" [in/at]. not 'sang'; : at 4:42 , its "Lankey" [to heal], not lyenkey [to save]. In the lyric, Nanda Kumar and Nanda Kumari are the brother and sister-in-law [buhaari] of Siddhartha Gautam ! There're other beautiful songs in the Gyaanmaalaa Cassette; e.g. Thula thula jeevana..; Vishwo yaa shaanti etc.

Thanks for your comment and your correction of the pronunciation...May be her original accent is nepali so she couldn't pronounce well at some places,but overall it is very beautiful song...I used to hear this song when I was kid in radio,and after several years I found this song in Gyanmala Bhajan collections,and It enthralled my heart so i tried to make a photo slide video of it for my own collection...I am looking forward to make other videos of beautiful gyanamala bhajana as well..and thanks for giving me the information about the singer,her voice is indeed beautiful...is she still living ? can u state here some of the nepali songs sung by her other than gyanmala bhajana?

Anattaah888 The video of this religious song looks laboriously well-made; and you also can follow the nice lyric of the song and murmur. Regarding 'Sangita Shakya', I think she knows Newari well, and some mistakes are due to just unknowingly reading the script. She's one of the Nepali singress and had sung many bhajans. The next gyanmala song 'Bishwo yaa shanti' is also sung by her. You can find some nepali songs from her album in youtube uploaded by herself a couple of years ago !!
