Didn't even own a proper guitar until age 15. No formal training known. Played on the "Chitlin Circuit" starting in 1952, backing up the Isley Brothers, Little Richard and Curtis Knight. In late 1966 he was "discovered" by Chas Chandler and moved to England. By the time of this concert in 1969, Jimi Hendrix was a certified American musical genius and legendary master of the guitar. There will never be another like him.

What an amazing version and recording of this fabulous track. I’m so jealous that my Dad saw Jimi live twice in ‘67 over here in England!! Just to really rub it in the first of those two gigs was in Spalding, Lincolnshire on May 29 1967 and this was the clearly terrible line up, 😱obviously in order of appearance with Jimi headlining: Jimi Hendrix Experience Cream Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band Pink Floyd Move Zoot Money and his Big Roll Band All for the very hefty price of £1!! 😲🤣

Different guitar sound for the opening riff of this live version. Ezy Ryder is the ultimate definition of a jam and Jimi is totally wired... and there is the riff stolen by Kravitz for Are You Gonna Go My Way. Most definitely yes!
@astraluna6is9 Жыл бұрын
Ahead of the times studio-wise for the 60s. But a great many compositions by Jimi were never to be duplicated in a live setting. The technology just wasn’t there. And hiring musicians to cover the parts like this one, would’ve cost a fortune in time, money, and in my opinion patience on the part of Jimi. Here are a few songs that would have needed just that. Axis Bold as Love Drifting One Rainey Wish House Burnin Down 1983 a merman I should turn to be Are you Experienced You got me Floatin Rainey day Dream away Angel Ezy Rider Electric Ladyland Ive had these vinyl Lps for years n years. •Loose Ends (import) •War Heroes (import) •Isle of Wight (import) 6 songs •Jimi Hendrix mix Lp (pinkish purple in color. His name spray painted on the cover with a Live Photo centered playing his Flying V.) • Cassette tape import from Mexico of Smash Hits with a kick ass studio take of Redhouse I will be buried with these.

Ahhh...The serendipity of it all. I just got off the phone with my old friend, Paul "The Lobster" Wells, a legendary long time, old school, classic rock DJ, originally from the Bronx and living in San Francisco for the last forty years. As we were wrapping up our 43 minute conversation he was trying to figure out which song from Hendrix Band of Gypsys New Year's Eve 1969 shows to play on his radio show, Lobster's Sunday Brunch, 10am-3pm on 97.7 FM, The River, KVRV from Santa Rosa, California. lobsterssundaybrunch.com/about-the-show/ So I hang up, come back here to my room to check for new KZbin videos and what do I find, Ezy Ryder from those shows, once again, the serendipity of this is not lost on me! I can't wait to hear the complete box set from those shows. Hendrix IS so amazing! Jimi would have been 77 years old coming up on November 27th.

Mick Flaire Hey no problem man any fan of Hendrix is a friend of mine I was fortunate enough to meet Kirk Hammett the lead guitarist for the band Metallica they were up here in Seattle after there and justice for all tour and I was working in a club so I got to meet Kirk Hammett and I got his autograph and he kissed me on the cheek but it was great because I asked him hey man you guys are Metallica what do you listen to And of course he said Jimmy Hendrix yeah sure as shit another amazing guitarist only you know from a later era but of course he was a huge fan of Hendricks and he said that Jimmy highly influenced his style of playing he also said that he like to listen to the red hot chili peppers and you know they bounce I like them too so anyways I just thought it would be fun to let you know that and hell yeah if you ever get up to Seattle take time to go see the EMP it really is a great musical museum and it’s worth spending the whole day at I didn’t mention it before but for real music lovers you can also go into individual little studios and jam on the John drums and bass guitars electric guitars of all types acoustic you know they just you can like rent a room for extra and if you want to have that recorded and take home your own recording I believe you can do that as well so it’s a really good time it was built really I think in honor of our history of Jimi Hendrix also if you go to the Woodland Park zoo you’ll find a large rock right in the center of the zoo that is dedicated to Jimi Hendrix and his legacy of music throughout the Seattle area called the Jimi Hendrix view rock when you stand on it you can really see a lot of the city in the overlap in the Puget Sound so it’s a hell of a ride and I am thanks man Glad I could help somebody’s day feel better and this music just rocks my soul I love it

Mick Flaire yeah Mike you one of the lucky ones I got born in 1968 and I was lucky in a sense as well because there was a lot of great music happening when I was growing up and my oldest sister was really into like the doors and Hendrix and Zepplin then my brother got into like a queen and AC/DC and maybe some Lynyrd Skynyrd all kinds of shit but I really stuck with the old-time stuff I like a little bit of stuff by the cars I think they did some cool weird shit nearly 80s and then I straight into some new wave music I guess you know a little bit of British punk but a yeah I remained an old hippie in my heart and I still lamb my house is covered with Jimi Hendrix and beetles and you know just tie-dye and Paisley I don’t even fit into this fucking century hell I can barely use this phone to send you this message but yeah Jimmy he was a good hippie at heart and as much as it breaks me to know that he died so young I think he probably got the better end of the deal I believe he’s out making music all over the universe and Soaring like a ☄️ hell he did Enough in his 27 years to last me a lifetime of his music it never gets old and it never will you take it easy brother stay safe all right and play that rock ‘n’ roll just as loud as you can as often as you can

@Carol johnson: I am so glad that you got to meet Kirk Hammett. He is an old friend from our days playing rock and roll in the East Bay of Northern California back in the late 70s and early 80s. When I come to Seattle I would like to hang out with you and have you take me to some cool sights. About 10 years ago I was hired to dress up like Jimi and play guitar and sing and walk around a special event that was set up inside the Yerba Buena Gardens in downtown San Francisco My girlfriend at the time, Jamie, who's 64th birthday it is today, dressed me up and outfitted me for the event. There is a photo of me as Jimi on my Instagram page, which you can find under Sawyer.Carver.Woodworx. or under Mick Flaire. I just went to my Instagram page to actually see if I did post that photo, and as it turns out I did not, so I will post that photo on November 27th, which would have been Jimi's 77th birthday
