This is basically a dream sequence video hence the visuals. The whole club scene is really taking place in his head. The mud represents being mired in a Not so great situation but he doesn't want to get out of it even though he knows it is not a good situation.

@@SARMY7 b/c US radio is run by payola. AN illegal pactice of labels paying the stations to play the particular songs,It can be either straight up money or other shady corporate deals with big promotions etc. Labels pay radios play. That is how you get Miley Cyrus or Taylor Swift with 100m spins in a week. They play their songs 5 times every hour. And BTS is notorious in the industry for not using ANY kind of payola. THey have been very vocal about it. This same principle is applied to big playlisting on spotify...this is the first time when the global hit no 1 is not included in the most important playlist Today´s top hits...ed sheeran is there though, altough his streams are nowhere near JM´s.

this track is a real departure from jimin's work. you may want to check out jimin's other solo songs Serendipity, Lie, Filter. it will give you a sense of him and his style. he also leads in Boy with love and Blood, sweat and tears. like the rest of BTS jimin is super-talented. i think he is also the strongest and sexiest dancer

This is not a love song in the usual sense. This is not about him clubbing either. BTS has a habit of dishing boppy sounding songs but with meanings deeper than the Mariana trench. Everything here happened in a dream, in his subconscious. The clubbing and whatever (including the mud) are purely metaphorical. The club represents the ultimate place to forget shit. Jimin said the song is about escaping reality to deal with one's wounds. He also said that the movie of the same name inspired the song. The troubled long distance love story in the movie is possibly a parallel between Jimin and ARMY. Jimin couldn't meet ARMY during the pandemic, he couldn't do live shows and for someone who live on the stage and for ARMY, that was crazy depressing for him. When Jimin performed again at MOTS:ONE concert, he was overwhelmed and broke down and cried and shared that he suffered so much, how difficult it was not to be able to perform for ARMY. He also said recently that the album is his personal chronology during covid and has to do with his Depression. The mud could represent his depression and other hurtful feelings he was experiencing. At the end of it, he is still in mud. There are other theories floating around too such as the link to Anima, one of the 4 MOTS Jungian concepts not explored by BTS yet (RM - Persona, Suga - Shadow, Jhope - Ego). In the dance practice version, we can see the Korean girl and Jimin dancing, they are mirroring each other's moves (not obvious in the stage performance because the girl wasn't 100% in synch with Jimin's moves - her arms moved more and she jumped too early), but the girl in the practice is on point. So the girl could be a reflection of himself, his Anima. The meaning of the Anima is one's true self in the subconscious level which often get manifested in dreams. And this whole mv is a dream.
