Yes, if you listen to music like I do, you would pick up on the background lower registers. He also sometimes sings lower live and let's his backing vocal track do the higher. I knew it was him, it sounds just like him to me (with some autotune for effect)! Absolute fire!! Jiminnnnaaaahhh!! I'm in love all over again.💜

@my self The autotune was purposefully used as a stylistic choice to enhance the texture of the song. It might not be to your taste, but that doesn't mean it's bad or that it's trying to cover anything, especially when used intentionally to give more colour to the music. Also, Jimin's natural lower register is gorgeous. BTS' songs usually only highlight his high notes, but his lower register is really beautiful.

I was surprised when people say the voice doesn’t sound like Jimin. Since I’m a korean and Jimin bias, it sounds very Jimin, one of his voices. I think because Jimin usually sings high note, people are not familiar with his various vocal tones. If you are ready to listen his vocals, you will be more mesmerized by him.

If fans remember back to BTS beginnings & they were hip hop focused Jimin has a deeper raspy rap vocals. it's always been a part of him but rarely shown. We are seeing all of Jimin come together. not to be separated ever again. He, also has a temper that he has learned to calm over the years. This MV took me back to younger Jimin now saying "let me out" as a full grown man. I began with BTS way before they became a group/idols. All due to underground rap scene & finding RM when young. Glad I followed him to be able to see the growth of these magnificent men. Yes, Jimin needs to be "him" all the way. So proud of him. Extraodinary MV. Eager for his full album as he has much more to share with us. I agree with PD that Jimin's uniqueness will crush concept of Kpop as he will go beyond. BTS are seemingly to break down barriers even in their country & Kpop industry. It's time. All their solo breakouts are a variation or mix in genres to point they seem to be presenting a new era for music entertainment. Breaking stereotypes. Yes, it's about time. Go Jimin as he demands "Set Me Free" extending what j-hope shared in wanting "MORE" & burning down Kpop in "ARSON". He (Jimin) confirms that it’s a nod to a track on bandmate SUGA’s second Agust D mixtape, D-2. “There isn’t a connection, and we weren’t trying to divide part one or part two,” he explains. “But since it turns out my song talks about freedom and moving forward, and SUGA’s song talks about some of the stories that come before, I thought it would be good to come after that.”

Set me free pt1 is Yoongi's album D-2 and this song is the continues version of that song also the voice that you heard which doesn't sounds like Jimin was actually his voice that he is been practicing for and last but not the least this song was themed on "Map of the soul 7" if you noticed that MOTS7 is about your fears and getting lost in this world but this song shows that anger that Jimin wants to be free. Jimin’s “Set Me Free Pt.2’, it’s everything & more then I could hope for, Jimin’s amazing artistry, his so beyond spectacular,, so mesmerizing, phenomenal performance! The song, Jimin’s vocals, his dancing, the amazing choreography, also the amazing backup dancers, the lyrics he wrote, the music he composed as well as being involved in the production! Jimin was hands on, involved with every facet! No wonder the in-house legendary producer for BigHit Pdogg, who worked with Jimin throughout the whole album, stated that “in 2023 K-pop will be ended by Park Jimin”! Seeing this makes me that much more excited, waiting in anticipation for release of the full album, Jimin’s “FACE” on March 24, along with his other, main song ‘Like Crazy’ MV. Though Jimin’s song ‘Set Me Free Pt.2’, blew me away , meeting all my expectations & then some, I was also not totally surprised, because indeed Jimin is now ‘set free’ from the confines of being part of a group, to now be able to open up full throttle and ‘finally’ be able to release all that he held back for so many yrs! Jimin has been involved in every facet of creating this album! Hands on all the way, perfectionist that he is, including writing lyrics, composing, as well as being heavily involved in production! Jimin’s true, real, inner self will be finally seen in all its raw, authentic, amazing, heartfelt, passionate, emotional, sincere glory! This is aside from Jimin’s full range, hardly ever being shown, aside from high notes, but being finally able to show his full registry, mid range as well as lower registry as well! I’ve always been so frustrated not being able to see as well as hear Jimin’s full capacity of talent. So often not being fully taken advantage of, but that comes with being part of a group, that has every single member having so much talent that it’s been so limiting for Jimin, especially him being so selfless, making a point of having others shine before himself. Jimin does release concept photos for this/his album in black and white outfits , so of course there is a message ,probably as much as we can assume , his dark past and how he overcame them and came to be in a new light💜 , and I have a theory that the f*** off word and the fool might be actually him telling or calling out to his inner dark self much rather than haters, to go away and that he is gonna keep moving forward towards the light and yeah , setting himself free from that past struggles etc . I've heard his lower voice in their much earlier albums also he has a nice growl that he use's sometimes. So it wasn't a suprise to me but to newer people they might not have noticed he has a lower register. This is from his amazing solo Album which is his story through Covid. He had a lot of dark thoughts and drunk a bit more than normal so crazy is about setting himself free of all those dark thought that where pulling him down. Hence the use of black that represents dark thoughts, black moods, depression, the hands pushing him into the box, dancers towering over him and the accusing pointing fingers at him. The crazy zombie like hands trying to pull him down when he was being held alof. At the end he's the one standing tall now in white all that darkness he's shaken off he's Free. The fight of the mind has been won. The use of auto tune and his different voice's are the voices in his head his voice is the outward struggle of the conflicting voices in his head.

This is Jimin putting down his inner demons/or haters. The auto tune is the demons/haters voices that constantly make him doubt himself. Jimins voice is in there if you listen carefully. Set me free part 1 is actually Suga's song Jimin thought it would be nice to name his part two since they convey almost a bit of the same context. Suga wants to be set free from the now and Jimin wants to be set free to move on to the next step of his life. So yeah.

Jimin’s voice was pure - no autotune on his normal voice. Those high notes are all him. The first verse is actually him rapping with a bit of backing to project his voice but that wasn’t auto tune. You have to go back to the early days to see when he sang in his lower register a fair amount; the only auto tune was the obvious parts- and the purpose of that was to reflect his voice in his head.

Jimin in English sounds so different that is why people are thinking why he sounds different the thing is the voice we hear all the time is because Jimin trained himself with the vocals back then and he started with high notes all the time but when Jimin speaks it's low registered and he actually makes different sounds when he growls when he does that high notes like auto tune and when he is being just himself you would know how his voice sounds different sometime like there is one video like behind the scenes of black swan and he kinda does this musical actor thing on it and you see it's the voice he does to tease I think people will know if the watch every single video that has been given by the big hit till now

Jimin has worked on his low voice leaning on his nasal resonance, it may be normal, that we think that the voice at the beginning "is not his real voice" but it is because we are not used to that voice, because he has always sung in BTS in his high and high middle notes, lots of falsettos, and a whispery or airy voice. But in reality his speaking voice is very different and is lower, so his voice at the beginning is closer to his real voice, and it is what has worked and was supported to demonstrate a new facet vocal in this song. I don't understand why they say that it doesn't seem like his voice when his speaking voice is actually that low, clearly he doesn't have the vocal weight of a Baritone, but his normal voice is in his low mids and the weight is given by his nasal resonant.💜
