Jimin explained that this album was made based on how he felt throughout the pandemic. This song talks about how he felt when he was drifting away from his friends and just distancing himself from everyone. He said he used to drink all the time and get drunk and he used not just sit at homie always in his head wondering what the hell is he doing with his life because he couldn't perform anymore and that really broke him, like it seriously broke him. This song was inspired by a movie he watched that is also called "like crazy". He said that he was expecting the typical romance movie but he was amazed when the plot showed what a real breakup/ long distance relationship felt like and that's how he felt with his friends and family

Thank you. So many focus on the movie, which is not the major point of the song. He has said the entire album is a chronological exploration of his feelings during lockdown, which hit Jimin really hard. But Jimin is doing much better now - even though he clearly misses the rest terribly. Roll on 2025. Jimin may have felt 'like crazy' 🤪 during lockdown, but now he shines 🌐🔮(I couldn't find a disco ball, so I combined the globe with a crystal ball 😂).💜

The girl symbolizes his dark side and she was the hand that dragged him into the club. This is a song about two sides of him. At the end, we see that he pulled himself into the real world. How the movie Like Crazy really lingers with you, much like this song. To me Jimin is using brilliant storytelling inspired by the movie. The feelings of longing, loneliness, and wanting to, but not being able to escape from a broken relationship is a great metaphor for Jimin's dysphoria during the pandemic. The mud, the walls closing in and opening up, the swirling scene in the club, it's all explained. I was blown away. I'm so proud of Jimin and the success he's experiencing from this song and album. Knowing FACE is meant to be listened to from top to bottom to understand all the pain and emotions Jimin went through and felt during the pandemic, some of these theories they came up with were cringey and a little painful but understandable if you haven’t read or watched any of his interviews to know the backstory of this song or his album. @@Celestialgalaxyy I agree. 💜 I just don’t want ppl to come out of the woodwork if I acknowledge Jimin’s use of what’s known as “bisexual lighting” (not for the first time, mind you). …Or if I point out how his reflection is portrayed by a woman instead of a man (fun fact - you can see how she’s wearing the leather jacket that Jimin wears in his “hardcore” concept photos). It’s the same jacket-covered arm with the muddy hand that grabs and pulls him in the beginning. And then at the end, he’s the one with the muddy hand, so that reinforces the idea that he and her might have been the same person all along. …or the way in his live performances of LC he usually wore an earring and that steak of white eyeliner on only ONE side of his face, showing a side of himself that appears more “masculine” and one that is more “feminine” Not to mention that the images of the man on his black pants he wears (in the bathroom scene) are of a famous NYC photographer named Robert Mapplethorpe who was both queer and known for his black & white nude photographs of men and woman and umm…some spicier (very non-hetero) images. In the choreo, there are moments where he seems to be kind of pushed and pulled between the women and men as if he isn’t certain where he belongs. He is also embraced by both men and women. FACE is a reflective album and I find that the queer-coding of this song/video/choreo is very loud. Actually, many, MANY people do. But many, MANY others want to silence those interpretations bc evidently if it’s not heteronormative, they find it to be offensive and scream at us for “labeling” Jimin - as if they aren’t doing the very same thing. "I think I wanted to appear like a strong man. Now I don't have to pretend, I can just be myself [...] (to his younger self) Hurry up and be me soon. You'll learn and realize so many things.” - Jimin Also, throwback to him wearing the bi-gender symbol in that one photo shoot!! And in his photofolio section “Color: Freedom” with ooo, the ~ bisexual lighting ~ where his arms have “FREE LOVE” written on them (a social movement celebrating and accepting all forms of love), AND where he is also wearing a YSL shirt from their pride collection….and where he’s seen next to a statue of Apollo who was bisexual and had both men and women as partners. I could go on and on with that photofolio. It’s exquisite and so detailed. 💜 “I think I try anything and everything I can to express my feelings. And I think I always comply with it.” - Jimin I’m not saying this interpretation is right. I will not pretend to know for certain bc I am not Jimin. I’m simply saying as a queer woman with LGBTQIA+ friends from all over the globe, that our community picks up on nuances from a different perspective. 🤷🏻‍♀️

💜 8:00 Yes, Jimin has always had earrings, infact he's quite known for his pretty earring collection, lol. 9:10 No, it's just random two people in the backround. Jimin said that the songs on this album were a series of events that happened to him and how he felt during the pandemic, in cronological order. He said this song in particular is about how he was lost at the time (wich could also be what all the "dreamy like" shots in the mv could've refrenced to too) and that the feelings he felt when watching the movie were kind of similar weird emotions he was feeling at the time, so it inspired him in that way. There's quite a lot of theories about the music video, but one of the most fitting and fealistic seem to be that a lot of it is about his feminine and masculine side. The girl in the mv is believed to be his reflection and you can see how the two move exactly like each other; they are going through the crowd of people the same way and both end up in the middle but never make eye contact. Then on the next scene Jimin is seen in front of a mirror while singing about his reflection. Also little things like the other side of his face has heavier makeup and an earring, while the other has neither (a lot of times used in refrences of feminine and masculine sides) etc. And that is when we get to the choreo: so in the choreo where the same theme continues: (wich i'm not going to spoil too much now) in it, Jimin has a solo part with a female dancer on the same part of the song and they mirror each other's moves exactly alike, while Jimin, again, sings about his reflection. There is a lot to unpack in the choreo, about the same theory, but i recommed you watch it and then come back to it separately.:) This similar type of theme of freedom and (self) acceptance seems to be running through his other solo activities lately too (like his photo folio etc.), and i just love that now, that they have the freedom to kind of go their own ways and show their own individual colours, we get to see the real authentic him like this. Also, Jimin has been very open about his journey with self acceptance and how he isn’t afraid to show his feminine side anymore and can just be comfortable in who he truly is. Like he himself has said, and i quote: "I used to feel the need to appear like a strong man, but now i don't have to pretend anymore, i can just be myself, talk about myself without pretending anything." There's a lot but those were just few things that came to mind:) Regardless, I truly cannot stress enough how proud i am of Jimin and everything he has achieved, he truly is the sweetest and deserves all the love in the world!💜

The thermal couples is just a random couple. This song isn’t about romantic love it’s about how he felt during the pandemic the struggles he faced! That’s why it’s called FACE, it’s about facing yourself! He even says don’t wake me up from this dream. Also the girl is his reflection. The lyrics at the time in the English version says more about it and here in the mv as soon as he comes face to face with the girl the next scene is him looking into a mirror! It’s a very symbolic MV but you’ll only notice if you pay attention.

With this song in particular many theories are going around that the MV itself gives us an idea of the feeling Jimin wants to have when he's intoxicated with alcohol. Lots of theories around the MV, the muddy hand that grabs him in the beginning are his inner demons, the muddy walls, and his muddy hand in the end. The woman(women) in the MV and the dance also is rumored to be his feminine and masculine side fighting a balance between himself and what they media want him to portray. I don't know the way it reversed backwards, it doesn't sound like a love song, it sounds like a cry for help but at the same time he said in the song he doesn't want help. Clearly a dark time in his life, which he said he's NO LONGER GOING THROUGH! He's mentally in a better place!! But as vibe-y as it is, it's a really sad song :( He described the album as a series of events that happened to him in _chronological_ order. If you listen to the album in order in "Dive" I believe he records himself jogging, a bit of his speech from Busan concert, then pouring himself a drink. Kind of alluding to the feeling you get, or the feeling he wanted to have while trying to cope with everything going on with the pandemic and his life, with alcohol, I guess. FACE his album is transitioned so beautifully, the production was phenomenally well done. Congrats to our IT boy, chart topper, Park Jimin, first k-soloist to make #1 on Billboard Hot 100, surpassing his group with k-act with most #1's . Jimin - 7, BTS - 6! Ah you guys should've seen it, it made domestic and international headlines, their company HYBE had a stock increase after he topped the charts, it was incredible. The entire Face album is Jimin’s personal story. You need to listen to it from top to bottom, in order. On the surface it’s great music with 2 elite performances. But the lyrics are deep and reflective and you realize how relatable he is. This album is amazing and I’m so proud of all his success. There is also a hidden track at the very end of the physical CD, a gift that he gave to ARMY. He’s a romantic through and through. 🪩🪩🪩🪩🪩🪩🤪🤪🤪

Those were fan interruptions about the feminine side, but not exactly what Jimin said the song was about. Jimin said this song was based off a movie, and that it show cased his feeling during the pandemic. Jimin also talked about how much he drank and partied thinking he was having fun, but realized it wasn't fun at all. However, music is subjective and that's what makes it fun.
