John's finally retired now after about 50 years of touring. We were so fortunate to enjoy his performances for so many years; he's like an old friend. I've always just loved his wonderful distinctive masculine voice which is rare in rock music. Cheers for John Kay and all the musicians in his band over the years.

Mr. Kay carries himself with the grace and authority of a well travelled master Bluesman. What a guy, a genuine legend. He escaped Nazi Germany with his mother as a baby when the Soviet’s invaded towards the end of WW2. The rest is history...
@jpslebassiste2 жыл бұрын
The story of his life really deserves a movie
@Pulsonar2 жыл бұрын
@@jpslebassiste Yes absolutely! Its amazing how Hollywood hasn’t picked up on that yet. Just the story of his escape from War torn Europe, the Red army and the Iron curtain to a new identity and freedom in North America and his early interest in rock n roll music leading up to the formation of Steppenwolf and their pioneering heavy rock/metal sound. That would be a great story for the archives.

It’s such a joy to watch videos today As when these songs first came out all we had were vinyl records and our imagination . The pics in and on album covers and writings . But extreme little mostly . My dad hated this song . I can’t believe dad tolerated my music , I almost feel bad for what I put him through . We only played this song when mom and dad were elsewhere . 😎🤓🤓

When you hear the excellent quality of this live recording it makes you wonder why on the 1969 album "Steppenwolf Live" a decision was made to studio-record, overdub, and add in applause for some of the tracks..........it's still a great album to listen to.
