Gotta love the satement Pete's making on squats. Let' list: no wraps, narrow stance, high bar, ass way below parallel requirement, oh and he walks it out the monolift, lol. I may be horribly wrong but he could maybe have added some extra lbs if some of these things changed, so it shows a healthy ego mentality - Pete is competing against himself and he only, if he does not make it the way he always does, and under those circumstances, it's not worth it, forget the others. Big legend, anyway.

@BruBish7 жыл бұрын
Actually, his depth is quite inefficient. Ideally you want to squat no lower than you need to in order to get the lift given as good. You lose some tightness in your body coming out of the hole when you squat that deeply. Yes it's good for strength building more casually, but I think for more competitive lifting you shouldn't squat any deeper than is necessary. I think that was reflected in his heavier lifts. Eric Lilliebridge had the best squat here in my view.

@larrymasterspowerbuildingc447710 жыл бұрын
Well, I am a novice. Not saying that as an excuse. As a matter of fact, I am adding another day for squats. So I will work it this way.... Two squat sessions for repetition and conditioning with about 75 % max PR, and the first session of the next week will be a day for chasing a PR depending on how I am moving the weight. But there is so much info out there and so many programs and conflicting information it's tough for a newbie like me---only been powerlifting for two months and a week--to know how to go about it. In fact I have done pretty well so far. First week of training my numbers were 185 squat/ 145 bench/ 215 deadlift. Now my lifts...after two months and a week in the same order...425 max squat/245 max bench/445 max deadlift. It's a learning process, but I love the iron.
@gainsandglory680810 жыл бұрын
Lawrence Malcheff good job man nice progress. I would suggest 5/3/1 with front squats on the deadlift day and use your deload week squats on your bench and ohp days. That or just run starting strength for crazy fast progression(but you are in the 4's so I don't think that would help that much). If those don't appeal to you, check out Texas Method. Anyways keep it up man, fucking solid progress.
@larrymasterspowerbuildingc447710 жыл бұрын
L.V. You are a sincere man. I appreciate that. Here's a bit of news for you, lol, I have never even been taught or attempted a front squat in my life.
@larrymasterspowerbuildingc447710 жыл бұрын
I have so far been letting my trainer do my thinking for me as far as programming. But I have started a journal I which I keep my workouts written down to the letter with my reflections about it afterwards. I am a bit lost right now, but I will check out the Texas method for sure. I have heard of it, and other methods such as powerlifting to win, the cube, etc. it's time I gave something a solid try because I know I am at that point. And a not on my squats is that ok. I have gotten weaker. But the fun of it is going to be getting back and past that 425 single that went up like a feather in the breeze. I believe it is because since that day I got that PR I have really shorted myself on my diet I an attempt to lose fat. I am hell bent on getting what I call "the foundation physique"-- a lean, dense, fat less powerlifter physique that is strong as an ox. But I have been impatient and greedy in an ironic not eat enough sort of way. I have been I. Too big of a hurry. So I have to eat more. I am working out like a fiend, but not sustaining it with enough protein and good fats. I have upped my calories from 2800 to 3500 and kept the 55% protein, 35% carbs, and 15% fat ratio the same and I am just feeling stronger and my muscles seem to be less sore. And I am still losing fat and my Bench and deadlift are still going up. But I will decide on a method by this Friday and give it hell. Thanks for your input. It is appreciated. Feel free to leave any other comments at any time L.V. We are weight lifters and the strong should help out the weak and the weak should seek out the strong with humility and respect until that brotherhood is broken. Keep kicking ass yourself, brother .
