JImmie Lee Robinson started out with Freddie King in the Every Hour Blues Band, then went on to work and record with Eddie Taylor, Little Walter, Eddie Boyd and others. His Bandera singles are great! He was a really creative, and powerful player, and a great singer. He quit music in the 70s and 80s and made a comeback in the late 80s/early 90s, making some fine records then as well. His band efforts sometimes had mixed results but he truly blossomed as a solo artist with his haunting, powerful vocals, where his sometimes almost eccentric style flowed freely. I got to know him well when I was starting out on and off the bandstand, and he was a kind, intelligent, thoughtful person as well as a unique talent. I hope some of you will comment on this video with memories and stories about Jimmie Lee Robinson, the Lonely Traveler. I focused on two of his signature tunes, Chicago Jump and All My Life. I'll come back and do another lesson on one of my other favorite records he was on, The Lost American Blues Men on Midnight Creeper records (you GOTTA check this one out!) Forgot to cover one cool part of the tune, I will try to fix that later on. Guns Gangs and Drugs is also an incredible recording-- it truly shows how outside the box he was! Photo credit of Jimmie shot in video: Scott Dirks. (Scott produced a CD on Jimmie Lee called Chicago Jump on Random Chance records that I played on that's well worth listening to. Lonely Traveler on Delmark isn't my favorite but it has some great moments too.)

Hi Johnny, your weekly lessons have been a joy since I came across your channel beginning of this year. I really do look forward to each new episode every Monday ☺️do you have any idea where I might find the „Lost american bluesmen“ album you were referring to? Can’t find it on Discogs or any of the streaming platforms… 🥴Many thanks, Frederik
