MC (M30) has just gone back to town to attend his old principal’s funeral. He really respected Mr. Smith, who helped him a lot when he was in school. Mr. Smith helped him when he was being bullied and also allowed him to hang out at his house to complete school projects. While there, he met Mr. Smith’s nephew, Malakai, who became his first love. They dated from the age of 15 to 18 but broke up when Malakai left town. Things did not end well for them. When MC sees Malakai at the funeral, they get off on the wrong foot. Malakai does not even recognize him because he has changed so much. MC stays for the funeral and is about to go home when Malakai visits him. He tells MC that Mr. Smith left them money to build a Youth Centre. It was something they talked about while they were still dating.
Bound by duty, MC decides to stay in town and work with Malakai. Kai is in town indefinitely, so they decide to start looking for plots together. Situations happen where they start remembering their youth, how much fun they had, and how happy they were. They realize they still know so much about each other and are still so connected. When an accident happens on site and Kai’s arm is broken MC is the first to react and take him to hospital. They then start hanging out outside of work and one day, MC falls asleep on Kai’s couch. The next day, Kai books them both off work. They celebrate a tradition they used to have with their uncle. During this, they have a heart-to-heart about their past and get peace. Some months later, the youth foundation is built, and they celebrate at the party. They end up alone in an office and talk about how happy they are that they did this together. At this point the mutual attraction is clear, and they confess their lingering feelings. They both express a desire to try being in a relationship again and seal it with a kiss.

Good story but you really don’t need to add “we are taking things slow” that pretentious line. Make it authentic and relatable. In real life after being through so much the two lovers will NOT wait another seconds to recover every bit of time wasted.
