One of the best 4x4 finals in major championship. Not including the world record runs, I'd say 91 & 97 WCs, and 96 OG's are my favs. Was also great NBC had Michael Johnson in the booth commentating during these championships. The start of a great broadcasting career.

Great race, I always felt Mark Richardson should have tucked in behind Washington like Akabussi did on Pettigrew in 91 . Richardson ran the whole top bend in lane 2 putting yards on his lap. It was all immaterial anyway as the US were to be stripped of the gold after Pettigrews admission of drug taking.

Baulch went too quick again as well as he had loads of speed but didn't time it right as he could have matched the American in the straight.

Fantastic race!! Awesome to have MJ calling the race (perfect timing on that reference to Jones' flat speed), and Allen Johnson in the booth after doing his unexpected part in the semis. Mixed feelings though with the IOC disciplining Young. RIP Antonio Pettigrew🙏🏾

I never understood why Baulch went hard so early in this and the 96 OG instead of sitting and biding his time - surely could have won gold for GB in this one (albeit they got gold retrospectively but it's not the same).

I used to scream at the TV every time he ran a relay leg for GB because he would ALWAYS screw it up by accelerating in the first 200. He just ran like an idiot.
