Had he made that, the Celtics would have had 15 seconds to win the game still. And they could miss their attempted shot, foul a heat player, and still have another shot to tie the game with a 3 if the Heat player hit both free throws. This wouldn't have forsure won the game for Miami.

What I think about was how many missed Free Throws Miami had earlier in the game. The Strus 3 that got overturned, that’s a game changing 3 that they couldn’t keep on the board. Lowry looked like he was folding in that first half, multiple missed 3’s, FT’s, and some costly turnovers and fouls. Miami isn’t even in this game in the last minute without Jimmy’s production. I think the basketball community understands why he shot it, he wanted that big momentum swing. Almost kill shot level of gravity with that bucket. It’s make or miss though in the NBA. At least Jimmy and the Heat went down swinging

Al Horford baited this shot. He sat on the elbow and butler took the bait. If you are going to shoot to be up, run out the clock. Look at 0:35. He went for glory…. And missed 😔 poor guy. 18 seconds, 1 timeout left. Down two to go to the Finals, 90 to 95% of basketball fans are thinking, attack the basket and hope for something good. It’s really not Jimmy’s game to take a 3 in transition, he can make those occasionally but with how critical that possession was, Spo had to call timeout. He a made mistake allowing Butler to make a quick decision like that. He tried though, its a make or miss league. If Jimmy hits that shot, we’re praising him today but its just unfortunate for him personally, he knows that a better decision could’ve been made.
@johnk3769
@johnk3769 Жыл бұрын
No, 90 to 95% of basketball fans come decide to criticize the shot he took because he missed it. If he had made that shot and the heat won, I wonder if your comment would even exist? No… The Celtics outplayed the Heat in Game 7 and the Heat were lucky to get that 11-0 run which they put themselves in that situation. Without Butler, the Heat would not even be in the Eastern Conference Finals. I am Chicago Bulls fan ever since I was little and obviously Michael Jordan is still someone I look up to because even he admits that you cannot make 100% of game winning shots as he said himself, “Twenty-six times I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life.” Now what do we remember Jordan for? Those times he hit clutch shots and do you know how you prevent a scenario like this happening? You never allow it to get to game 7 just like the Bulls proved it in the 90’s w/ Jordan 6 times. Not a single one of those series went to a game 7 and that’s what makes them 1 of the greatest dynasties in history. A #1 seed like the Heat should have easily beat the Celtics, a #4 seed as leaving it up to 1 game to decide it all is why you are commenting on here as if you are perfect and aren’t human because failing, AKA missing shots is part of life and it doesn’t mean Butler is dumb for taking a shot in which I personally believe was the right call as the momentum was clearly running for the Heat with an 11-0 run.
@johnk3769
@johnk3769 Жыл бұрын
Also, he didn’t go for glory, he took a shot for the lead as that puts a lot more pressure on the Celtics w/ little time remaining knowing they HAVE 1 shot that decides whether they lose or win. Going for the 2 would’ve simply tied the game and how do you know that the Celtics wouldn’t of came back and hit a game winning shot? Boston deserved that win as they were the better team on the road against the Heat. Butler has hit many of those 3’s with no problem and he didn’t miss it by much but even Michael Jordan didn’t make 100% of his field goals and he is known as the Greatest Player in Basketball History.

The midrange or drive to basket will not be nearly as open as this 3 since the small number of defenders that are back are inside the arc. Other defenders are coming and in a few seconds you will have the NBAs number one defense assembled in its patented half court mode. 3s will become more contested not less from that point forward.

Grant Williams is draped all over Lowry(better 3 point shooter than butler) and Tatum isn’t even looking at butler and completely covering strues (also a better 3 point shooter than butler) ain’t none of them even thinking of collapsing on butler. Horford plays decent defense overall but still rather see Butler take it to the rim or get closer for midrange. Nonetheless, he’s 23% from 3, not a good shot at all. If anything call a timeout and get a better look, but with butler one on one with Horford back pedaling, Butler needs to be more aggressive there

They won't win as long as Marcus Smart keeps forgetting he's not the superstar on the team. And I know they keep winning, and I actually want them too, as a Dominican I want Harford to get a ring. But the warriors WILL make you pay for those mistakes. He just steps out of line in literally the CRUCIAL of moments. Literally always when the clock is winding down. Look at the two turn overs he had literally back to back at the end of regulation against the Bucks, when Holiday shut his ass down. He gets into this mode where he thinks like, idk, he's like Kyrie about to dance on you and play hero ball and that's just not him. At all. They're not even big on you for OFFENSE like at all. You just became the DPOY. First guard in 2 decades. Play to your strengths. Also don't think he's ready to take the heat of missing the last game winning shot the way your star players are always responsible for doing 🤷🏽‍♂️

Most Celtics fans, myself included, immediately thought as Jimmy shot, "Al!! Why tf you leaving him wide open?" One posession with the Finals on the line, down 2, transition/fast break vs. Old Ass Horford, he stops and pops a 3. How is that not a bad shot? Nothing about that was good lol. He shot early, took a low percentage shot, and didn’t take the big man 1on1.

@@DeathrowDC so is it a bad shot because jimmy took the shot? He been shooting over 50% in the series. And he was open lol They wouldn’t have been in the series if it wasn’t for him. Old ass Al horford received votes for defensive player of the year too. He literally just hit that same shot
@mikephipps9930

@@DeathrowDC take into consideration Al Hortford was back pedaling, it’s a open 3, Jimmy Butler believes he can make this shot, he has played 48 mins the man is trying to end the game, I highly doubt Jimmy Butler had anything left to blow by Al Hortford with Jalen Brown lurking there. This is probably the best shot they are going to get, you don’t want the Celtics to setup their defensive. In the 4th quarter Miami had to earn every bucket, honestly this was probably the best shot they had got all quarter everything else was contested. I don’t believe any NBA player would say this is a bad shot, even Mark Jackson agreed it was not a bad shot.

Jimmy played the whole damn game, 48 minutes, so i get fatigue was in play and he was probably thinking, "i have a clean look, i have no legs for overtime, let me try to put this one home", just did not work out. The better choice would have been to try to tie it up. Miami needs to make some roster moves, can't be paying Robinson 90 mill to sit on bench, hes got to go, send him to Clipper and get Morris, he would be perfect for Heat.

Bam, the so called rebounder, didn't even cross half court on Jimmy's 3pt shot. He needs to find another team. But to add to that not one player was below the 3pt line, just awful offense so with 18sec left, Jimmy had to take the shot.

How is that bad offense? It was a 3v3 situation and having 2 of them outside 3 point line essentially made it one on one with Jimmy vs Horford. He had option to shoot like he did or also had clear path to the basket if he wanted to. Can't ask for a better situation than that.
