It's a fair deal all things considering. Even if Kris is now injury prone, we have the wing depth to cover for him when he's not available. Portis can be our starting PF allowimg Nico & Ware to continue to be the power rotation off the bench. This deal gets us in the playoffs this year, which allows for us to keep our two future 1st round picks and allow us to go 🐳hunting in 2026-2027. All this to miss out on a chance to draft Cooper Flagg, Dylan Harper, etc…I think it’s a horrible trade. If you’re not going to get a young potential all star like Kuminga back, expiring contracts and draft picks I don’t think it’s a smart trade, and I would rather let him walk at the end of the season. We never get a high lottery pick, and we’ve only won championships on the back of high lottery picks. The right move is to miss the playoffs, not to get a bunch of mid players that barely get us into the playoffs to get crushed for the sake of puck protections.

We lose a pick to OKC and to Charlotte either way. As I understand it, if we are a lottery team this year, we keep our pick because it’s top 14 protected. Then our 2026 goes to OKC unprotected. Further it lifts our protection on the pick we used for Terry, so the Charlotte pick becomes unprotected too. We won’t lose more or less picks depending on how we place. I don’t value those protections. I value Cooper Flagg and so should any other sane person. If I have this wrong please clarify as I’m completely lost on why people care about these pick protections so much when we have such a talented draft class this year.
