I had not finished High School when I joined the US Army Infantry before Carter became president during the Vietnam War era. I was ordered to attend privet lessons 3 days a week with 3 other soldiers after President Carter took office. I owe my educated life to him, he saved me from being a child soldier with no education. You enriched my life and set me free! Thank you Mr President

This just puts my opinion of President Carter that much higher. He was a good President but he was an amazing human being. I'm Canadian and I really loved and respected Jimmy Carter the man. He was kind and caring and deserving of all the praise heeped on him. His son helped me see him as a dad. What a great father you had James Earl. You were all very lucky to have him and we were all lucky he and his lovely wife were in this world. They exemplified what it really means to be a Christian. We are poorer without him and will never forget him. Condolences to all of the Carters and the American people.
