@@kobushauman3310 There is a saying that sometimes you have to be bitter before you can get better. On September 11, 2001 I started to change a lot of my world views. We would also be worth millions today if we had been able to keep the land. I can honestly say that everything I have I earned it. I didn't inherit a lot. When a family looses something like that you learn what is important. You also learn who your real friends are and that is priceless! 1980 has been 41 years years ago. There were also issues with Reagan's farm polices that didn't help. We went through bankruptcy and auction in 1986. Both Reagan and Carter shared solid Christian values as they were both pro-life. The grain embargo was bad although it also helped to slow inflation. Retail food prices came down and it may have help millions of people the ability to afford food. There was a time when we had double digit inflation. People had it it bad all over the place, yet that is now the good old days. In 1979 we thought 79 cent a gallon gas was way too much.

Jimmy Carter is a man who sticks to his beliefs, you have to admire that in him. But he was a weak president that was stubbornly bent on doing things his way, as opposed to listening to others around him. My impression of Pres. Carter was that he was a man of great ego trying to make you think he was humble - which I'm convinced he is not, underneath it all. His great self-pride was that he (in his mind) was humble and he worked very hard to give people that impression. This attitude produced a feeling that he was not very proud of America or himself and, in turn, he made Americans feel badly about themselves.

I was around! There are more aspects to a man than making a great economy or the price of gas. As far as his leadership, he admits to his faults, weaknesses and limitations as president, therefore it is not necessary to comment on what was acknowledged. I believe when a man is able to reflects on his life, be it good, bad, or indifferent... says a lot to me about a mans character. Despite “popular beliefs”, the ability to admit to ones weakness does not show failure ...but that of strength! I see in Pres. Carter, a man who is humble and one who shows grace and mercy... a man who truly fears God. But if leadership is all about the economy and the price of gas, then we now have the “greatest” leader in the world! I guess it doesn’t matter if this leader sows division, fear and hatred along racial and party lines... refuses to condemn white nationalism/supremacist, sexism... or one who entrust foreign governments over our respected NSA...or condemned a respected POW for beginning captured during service to his country or one who threatens the boundaries of our constitution! You know, I can keep going on but if you are going to define a leader based on our economy then I guess I have nothing else to say except God bless the USA 🇺🇸

I truly wish that America had given this man a second term, I had the pleasure of meeting him when I came to America to visit my Uncle, we went out for lunch together and he happened to be in the same restaurant. I had to go over and say hello and he was amazed that someone from Wales (and relatively young) knew him and wanted to talk to him, lovely, lovely man.

I wish more presidents, both current and former, would embrace his idea of fiscal conservativism. He costs the taxpayers far less than most current and former presidents.

Kathryn Aldrich-- You have GOT to be kidding! President Carter was, and is, a good man, but public spending (domestic) by the federal government during his administration was higher (adjusted for dollar value) than during any 4 years before or since. Carter's installation of those solar panels cost MORE in labor and material than the energy savings they provided over the two and a half years of their existence.

@@crocodile1313 would you have a source for that claim? We installed them at our church and they basically paid for themselves far sooner that we had thought - by one year.

Thank you for your kind comment regarding President Carter. From George Washington, who became President in 1789, all the way until President Carter left office 1/20/1981 the total U.S. Federal National Debt was only $910 billion dollars...not bad at all for almost 2 centuries & 2 world wars. Then look what Reagan did - more than TRIPLED the national debt to over $2.7 TRILLION DOLLARS in just 8 years. Also look at what G.W.Bush did to our national debt - the American taxpayers has to bail out the crooks on Wall Street & the corrupt banking industry etc for trillions because of his reckless deregulation policies. The true fact is the GOP is responsible for our huge national debt.

Could you imagine how much further we as a Nation would be with Renewable Energies if President Carter had just 4 more years. We probably wouldn't have spent so much money on the Military Industrial Complex and our infrastucture today would not be crumbling.

Thank you for your comment regarding President Carter. YOU LITERALLY ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.!! You're spot on when it comes to our environment & crumbling infrastructure. President Carter likely would've been elected to a 2nd term had it not been for William Casey bribing the Iranians to hold the U.S. hostages longer - that's actually a fact.

Carter is one of the most underrated presidents in US history. If it wasn't for the dirty tricks of GOP, both universal healthcare AND marijuana wilud have been legal now... The loss! The loss! But the fight keeps on....

Well to be accurate the health care didn't pass mostly because of Ted Kennedy, who was a Democrat. So its not all the GOP's fault.

Did you watch the clip? Especially 2:24-2:31 ...Carter himself blames Ted Kennedy. I'm no fan of the GOP but it's hard to blame them because Carter had Democratic majorities in both chambers of Congress.

He did his bidding and acted honorably. His administration was a hallmark, no matter how dire it ended. Many pro labor and pro consumer decrees were passed thanks to him and by heeding advice from Ralph Nader. He acted on his own terms and could not be bought. After him it was the end of the Republic as we knew . He should not have any regrets

Carter’s achievements are often overlooked though many mistakes were made . This coupled with huge bad luck and aspects of his ‘malaise’ speech sealed his fate in 1980. The divisions in the Democrat party stoked by Ted Kennedy was the final nail in his coffin in 1980.
