I just went there. Spent a few nights in downtown Yazoo and drove out to see if I could find Jimmy "Duck" Holmes at the Blues front Cafe. I did that. That was one of the coolest thing ever.

How did you find him?

I was looking for a place to go in the southern US and began searching around on the internet and stumbled across a documentary of Jimmy Duck Holmes. It was produced by a Canadian guy and being a fan of Heavy Metal I wanted to see where roots of all that began and a big part of that was the Blues. If found the Blue Front cafe by simply driving over there from Yazoo. I parked, walked in and asked the guy at the counter if Jimmy Duck Holmes was there and he said yeah, I'm him. We talked a bit and I hung out for the afternoon.

Couldn’t imagine pop singers of today could even try to make music like this, full of sass and country blues rhythms-and honesty.

I love the sound of the older guitar, you hear the soul engrained in the wood and strings, plus with the amount of miles Ducky and that bad boy have traveled muscle memory is second nature here, real comfortable.

It's establishments like this, where the culture of the community comes oozing out, unfiltered! The world needs more of this and fewer stadium tours. Just sayin'..........

Thank you for posting Jimmy Duck Holmes music. I don’t know who was trying to keep rhythm on the table or Cajon or whatever, but I wish they had not.

@@thebrazilianatlantis165yeah but there’s ways of being discrete and polite about it. I would argue that flash photography like some of the people in the video are doing at the beginning, is exceptionally rude.

and henry stuckey. but there are no YT videos or anything of him to my knowledge, strictly a bentonia guy. the acknowledged father of bentonia blues. skip james was from there. played at the blue front long ago. jimmy owns and operates it. the oldest juke joint in mississippi.

@ Duck says he didn't learn any complete songs from Henry but did listen to him play in about 1956. Jack was conscientious about teaching Duck a lot.
