His death was not a waste though. He accomplished a lot in his life. I wish he could be with us for as long as possible. It's a shame to have lost one of the most amazing artists of human history. I believe he died happy, knowing his family and fans would be by his side, forever.

Young people...embrace your heroes while you can. Love each other no matter how hard that may seem. Life is such a precious gift. I'm 52 now and watching some of my influences leaving us. Chris Squire and now David Bowie. My God, I can still remember sitting in Richie Bruno's garage with a black light and incense burning and us unwrapping The Spiders from Mars album. The smell of that album. The smell of the fresh vinyl. It was so wonderful. Fast forward to 1983 while in the military and wearing out that cassette tape in my Walkman. David was all about opening your mind and your spirit. David was such a wonderful human. Extremely talented. David was Real. As real as real can ever be. Fair winds Major Tom. I've always been with you. Jimmy...that was perfect.

I was only 13 when he died. Although I'd heard his name and knew the mark he left on people, I wasn't properly aware of just how much of a massive impact he had on the music industry as a whole, and I wasn't really that familiar with him either (which was probably a generational thing because most of my family already loved him) - in terms of both music and acting - I knew Starman but that was about it. Since then, I've become a huge fan of the guy. He is a legend! Love you and miss you, David Bowie!! Hope you're doing well up there. When I go to heaven, I hope I will get to meet you.

I've been saying to kids on cover versions of Bowie songs like AHS & the guy who covered "Major Tom" in space - "Listen to other stuff from this guy, he is (was) AMAZING!" and sort of get the response - "Yeah!
